Riot’s new shooter Valorant has not launched yet, but it is already exciting many gamers. The Twitch streamer Summit1g even believes that the game will be much better than Overwatch. And he also explains why.
This is what Summit1g says: The Twitch streamer Summit1g explained in one of his latest streams that Valorant “will be at least 10 times better than Overwatch, at least in terms of watching it.”
He is especially focused on “Hero Plays”, scenes in the game where a player stands out significantly, for example, by deciding the round alone. He compares the games with Counter-Strike:
Counter-Strike is one of the best games to watch because there are constantly so many Hero Plays. That doesn’t happen in Overwatch.
Summit1g comes from the Counter-Strike scene and is a former CS:GO pro. He has played Overwatch himself and is looking forward to Valorant.
The “Problem” with Overwatch
Summit1g sees the big problem with Overwatch in two areas:
- the meta and the many defensive heroes
- the fact that Overwatch is supposed to be a game even for the weakest players
However, these two things are interconnected. Heroes like Reinhardt are designed to encourage players with less shooter experience or lower aim skills to play.
However, these heroes are also so strong that they are essential for many team compositions. Summit1g summarizes this somewhat cynically:
This leads to two Reinhardts facing each other at a chokepoint. Shooting at the shield, reloading, shooting at the shield, reloading. Then maybe someone does something and a few people die, but then Reinhardt comes back with a full shield.
This continues until the ultimates are charged, all possible abilities are used, and no one knows what the hell is happening.
