The Twitch streamer Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler is undergoing a particularly difficult Pokémon challenge, where he only wants to catch shiny Pokémon. During the stream, he has finally made a step forward.
What kind of challenge is this? Trymacs started a Pokémon challenge over a month ago, where he wants to catch only shiny Pokémon and battle with them. Encountering a shiny Pokémon is quite difficult. The chance in the generation that Trymacs is playing is 1:8,192 (according to PokéWiki).
This challenge has been intense. He managed to secure a shiny Chikorita as his starter Pokémon, which has already evolved into Bayleef.
Encountering the second shiny was more challenging and brought the Twitch streamer to his patience limits: Trymacs reported that he would “go to bed broken every night”.
However, during the stream, he was finally able to catch his second shiny Pokémon.
“I can just keep playing”
After encountering his first shiny Pokémon Chikorita, Trymacs finally meets his second: a shiny Oddish. The Twitch streamer can hardly believe his luck and screams so loudly that he is hoarse just a few minutes later.
Then he exclaims:
I don’t even know how to play the game anymore. (…) I can just keep playing. (…) I can play Pokémon right away. I can play the game.

The Twitch streamer has spent so much time in the game at this one spot that it now feels unusual for him to continue playing the game “normally.” He is still in the first area, on Route 32, but has spent the last four weeks and a total of 143 hours of gameplay since the last shiny Pokémon here.

Oddish doesn’t seem to be the best catch: The Twitch streamer says about the Oddish: “I’m fine with everything” (via YouTube), but admits that the Pokémon is the worst possible for battling.
The next Pokémon gym he has to defeat specializes in Bug type, which is effective against Grass Pokémon. Since Trymacs already has a Bayleef, which is also a Grass type, he is weak with both Pokémon against the gym and lacks type diversity within his team.
After this success, Trymacs seems motivated to continue the Pokémon challenge. Not only does the Twitch streamer play the Pokémon games, he is also very into opening booster packs of cards.
