When will Version 4.0 be released? On August 16, 2023, at 12:00 AM, the update went live in-game. Now, the new Version 4.0 is online.
A total of 600 Primogems are waiting for you in the mailbox as compensation for the troubleshooting and the update period.

These are the new contents of Version 4.0 in Genshin Impact
What new characters are there in Version 4.0? With the sibling trio Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet, the first playable characters from the new region Fontaine are introduced in the game.
- Lyney is a 5-star character who fights with a bow and Pyro
- Lynette is a 4-star character who fights with a sword and Anemo
- Freminet is a 4-star character who fights with a claymore and Cryo
Note: You will receive the new character Lynette for free. Once you’ve reached Adventure Rank 25, you can permanently obtain her starting from Version 4.0 through the event page “The Curtain of the Magic Show Never Falls”.
What banners are there in Version 4.0? The first phase will run from the start of the update until September 5, 2023, at 5:59 PM, and will include these special banners:
- “Magic Between Light and Shadow”: featuring Lyney as a 5-star character; Lynette, Bennett, and Barbara as 4-star characters
- “Revealing Heavenly Secrets”: featuring Yelan as a 5-star character; Lynette, Bennett, and Barbara as 4-star characters
- “Divine Work” with “Bow – First Great Magic” and “Bow – Aqua Simulacra,” several limited 4-star weapons
In the second phase, the two 5-star characters Childe (Hydro, Bow) and Zhongli (Geo, Polearm) will have their reruns.
What events are there in Part 1 of Version 4.0? More information is available about these events that will soon start in the new version of Genshin Impact:
- “Curious Curiosities Brawl”: Event period from August 24, 2023, 10:00 AM to September 11, 2023, 03:59 AM; with Bennett, Primogems, and Wisdom Crown as rewards

What else is there in Version 4.0? The new region Fontaine will bring numerous contents, such as new enemies and animals, as well as an underwater world. Additionally, the new version provides players with the continuation of the Archon Quest and the legendary mission “Felis Fuscus” with Lyney.
Furthermore, 2 new artifact sets will be added to the game and system improvements will be carried out, such as regarding the map’s layer view, watching a TCG duel in co-op, and the character joining animations.
