In Throne and Liberty the Miserable Record of Despair is a difficult quest. To complete it, you must go to the open-world dungeon of Syleus. MeinMMO will tell you what you need to do.
How does the quest go? You can find the quest Miserable Record of Despair in your Codex under Exploration and then Laslan. It is a mission you must complete in the open-world dungeon Abyss of Syleus.
Be aware that PvP is activated in the open-world dungeon at night. This means that you will not only be attacked by monsters but also by other players. The easiest way is to look for a group beforehand or ask guild members for help. You can recognize a conflict zone by the two crossed red swords hanging by the dungeon symbol.
In order to successfully complete the quest, you must first unlock it, then collect a page in the dungeon, and subsequently use a rotation device. MeinMMO will show you how to do that.

How do I unlock the quest? It may be that the mission is not yet unlocked for you. This is likely because you have not yet progressed deep enough into the dungeon. To activate the quest, you must have at least entered the fifth floor of the open-world dungeon Syleus once. After that, it will automatically unlock in the Codex.
To reach the fifth floor, you need to almost traverse the entire dungeon. Always orient yourself on the mini-map to the stairs, which have a small downward arrow as a symbol; they will always lead you to the next lower floors.
Make sure to activate all waypoints on the various floors, so you can teleport later if monsters or other players take you down on your way.
Collect a page of the collection: Expedition Records – Abyss of Syleus (E5-E6)
Where is the page? You can find the page of the collection: Expedition Records – Abyss of Syleus (E5-E6) right after you descend the stairs to the fifth floor. If you have never collected it, it will shine purple next to the waypoint. You will complete the first part of the quest after interacting with the page.
Unfortunately, the page is a bit buggy. Some players do not see it at all, while others do not have their quest progress counted when they interact with the page. Currently, you can only wait until the issue is fixed. However, you can try to come back at a later time to give it another shot until it eventually works.
Use the rotation device
Where is the rotation device? If collecting the page was counted for you, you can proceed directly with the quest by flying down the stairs in front of you. You will then reach a circular arena. In the center is a small round tower that you can ascend with a spiral staircase.
Once you reach the top, you will see an armillary sphere model, which you may recognize as the time-turner from Hermione in Harry Potter. You need to interact with this rotation device, and you will have mastered the second and final part of the quest.
Quest Reward
What do I get from the quest? If you complete this quest, you will receive not only Sollant and a Noble Passive Skill Growth Book, but also an Opal Drakorift Turtle. The turtle is a water morph that is immune to lava, making it very useful.
