Talus makes you run
Even though Talus is not as annoying for some players anymore due to the progressing gear, he was, at launch, one of the most exhausting bosses in the game. The stone golem has several mechanics that can quickly eliminate inattentive players.
One of the mechanics is a shield that players must collect. Three blue floating stones spawn at the outer edge, where there is a shield. Anyone who does not pick up the shield will die as a result of the next mechanic.
Especially annoying: Members of your own guild and group tend to block the shield by standing in front of it. This feels a bit like when a bus drives away right in front of you.
Another annoying mechanic with Talus is the windstorm. Every time Talus splits, a storm follows, which can only be survived right in the center of the boss arena. For ranged players, the time to reach the boss is tight and so the field is traditionally a bit thinned out after the attack.
Another mechanic of Talus simply throws all players into the air. While it doesn’t deal much damage, it does mean that the boss takes even longer to be defeated.
However, Talus has become easier to defeat as the progressing equipment provides enough stats on the characters so that the abilities no longer need to be played. A high evasion value ensures that the boss’s abilities no longer hit.
Malakar likes you to be close to him
Malakar robs players of about as many nerves as he has eyes. The boss, who is located in the Mana Wasteland, regularly wipes groups of players and has a particularly nasty mechanic for which there is no good counter.
The boss’s worst ability teleports him to the furthest player within his range, stuns all players, and pulls them towards him. This is followed by an ability where all players receive massive damage and almost always die unless a defensive ability was activated beforehand.
There is hardly any protection against this mechanic except for intentionally placing a player far enough away so that the boss can no longer pull the other players or hiding from the boss’s gaze.
Even the other abilities of Malakar are annoying. For example, Malakar marks a player with a red eye, then chases them, and if caught, deals massive damage to them and everyone around them.
During the fight, players also have to regularly block the boss’s abilities. Each failure results in a stun as a thank you from the boss.
