In Red Dead Online the new update “The Naturalist” is available. In the Poacher role, you can either hunt animals or study them. However, if you want to play as a hunter and then approach the new NPC Harriet, there are now consequences.
Who is Harriet? With the new “The Naturalist” update, released on July 28, a new NPC entered the world of cowboys. Harriet Davenport is a conservationist who wants to deepen her knowledge of wildlife. For her, you should carefully tranquilize the animals and collect samples. She is the option for animal-loving players.
So if you prefer to be a conservationist in Red Dead Online, you should team up with Harriet. However, if you choose this path, you must stick to it. Harriet will punish you for killing animals, as one player showed on reddit:
Player Evanovesky had killed and skinned an animal. He packed the hide on his horse and then rode to Harriet Davenport. As he approached, she angrily confronted him without him even interacting with her.
But that’s not all, because when you try to talk to Harriet, a scene plays out in which she tranquilizes the player with a spray.
Why should you even join her?
What benefits do you get as a conservationist? With Harriet, you receive the new tranquilizer ammunition for the Varmint rifle to tranquilize the animals. Additionally, you can use animal revivers to ensure that no predators attack defenseless animals.
The big rewards, however, will only be unlocked over time as you immerse yourself in your new role. The more animals you research, the fuller your compendium becomes, and thus the rewards like:
- A new horse breed for naturalists
- Clothing
- New recipes and tonics – for example, for weight loss or gain
- The new ability “Mercy Kill”
So if you want to unlock these rewards, make sure not to anger Harriet, as that could affect your business relationship.
Players who would prefer to collect their rewards right away should team up with the new NPC: Gus Macmillan, the big game hunter. If you bring him the best pelts in Red Dead Online, he will craft stylish clothing and accessories for you.
