After two films, it’s over for the Wonder Woman franchise. One of the main actors from the last two films, Chris Pine, has now reacted with bewilderment to the studio’s decision.
What about Wonder Woman 3? In 2017, the solo film featuring Wonder Woman, with Gal Gadot in the title role, was released, who prior to this success almost quit acting. Three years later, it was time for a sequel. Wonder Woman 1984 placed the superhero in the specified decade.
Both films were directed by American director Patty Jenkins, who was also responsible for Monster . She will not be directing a third installment of Wonder Woman . The film has been canceled by DC and Warner and no further plans will be pursued.
Chris Pine, who starred in both films, has reacted to the cancellation and has expressed his concern.
“Wonder Woman is an incredible character”
What does Chris Pine say? In the films, the actor, whom some may also know as Kirk from the Star Trek reboot by JJ Abrams, appeared as Steve Trevor. Regarding the decision to cancel Wonder Woman 3, he says the following:
I was shocked that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and chose to go elsewhere. I don’t know what the reasoning behind this decision was, it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character and Patty Jenkins is a very attentive director.

One reason for the cancellation may be that James Gunn is now in charge at DC and is planning a new cinematic universe. Everything related to the now-concluded Extended Universe will therefore not be continued. Director Zack Snyder has also moved on from the DC films and would only return for Batman.
Attention, there are spoilers for the Wonder Woman films ahead. You have been warned.
Would Chris Pine have been in Wonder Woman 3? Although the actor is sad that there will be no third installment, he also makes it clear that he would not have been part of it anyway.
His character would be dead, and it would be “ridiculous” to bring him back. Nevertheless, he would have liked to see the film. The series has grown dear to him, even though he was initially skeptical.
Only when director Patty Jenkins explained to him that the film would be based on a classic like Casablanca and would be anything but a typical superhero film did Pine agree to the role.
Who will play Wonder Woman in the new Extended Universe is still unclear. James Gunn has remained tight-lipped about this. You can read on MeinMMO why he thinks there are so many bad superhero films.
