Since yesterday, PS Plus owners can enjoy the first beta of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. These three new contents are the highlights.
What does the MHW: Iceborne beta bring? The exclusive PS4 beta of Iceborne is the same beta that visitors of E3 2019 were able to try out. It includes:
- A new area
- New move sets for all weapons
- Quests for Great Jagras, Banbaro and Tigrex
- The new mechanic “Clutch Claw”
Since yesterday, PS Plus owners can test the beta. On June 28, all PS4 players can join.
“Oh my God, there are penguins here!”
This is what players are saying about the new area: The new snowy area “Reach” has been well received by players. Even before the beta release, there were comments on how beautiful it looks. The user StarLord423 wrote:
[…] I’m just waiting here to encounter optional monsters in the quest of Great Jagras and explore the new area.
In addition to the beautiful surroundings, there are also new plants and especially animals in the Reach. This includes, for example, penguins.
One of the threads with the most upvotes in the MHW subreddit is titled “There are penguins in the Reach!”, which simply shows a screenshot of the penguins. Players are celebrating the little birds and are already looking forward to being able to catch them in the final version of Iceborne:

“I love my old enemy, Tigrex”
This is what players are saying about Tigrex: One of the new monsters, Tigrex, has been a highlight of Iceborne since its announcement. Tigrex is one of the fan favorites from the old Monster Hunter games and thus generated a lot of anticipation.
In the demo, Tigrex already brings well-known signature moves, such as the triple bite, but also combines them with new follow-up attacks. This results in a mix of familiar attack patterns with unexpected twists for the Monster Hunter veterans.

However, for experienced hunters, Tigrex does not pose any problems. There are also voices calling him really “easy.” Nevertheless, it seems to be a successful monster for many.
Clutch Claw is a cool new mechanic
This is what players are saying about the Clutch Claw: The Clutch Claw is a new feature that comes with MHW: Iceborne. This allows players to pull themselves toward monsters with a grappling hook and deal damage.
However, it can also be used to sever monster body parts if aimed precisely. For example, you can relieve Tigrex of its tail with the Clutch Claw.
Each weapon type also has its own move sets that can be used while hanging onto the monster. All in all, the beta makes you crave for more.
