Palia is an upcoming MMORPG that aims to provide a lot of relaxation. Recently, the developers Singularity 6 revealed that you can meet and date their NPCs. Similar to the popular farming RPG Stardew Valley.
What kind of game is Palia? Palia is a cozy MMORPG currently in development. Activities like cooking, chopping wood, mining, fishing, bug hunting, or farming are core content – housing is also an important feature.
You explore the open world of the MMORPG, customize your character’s appearance, and set up your house. There will also be PvE battles, but they should be optional.

The MMORPG tells its story through the 23 characters
It is not meant to be a heavily narrative-driven game, as the developers have already revealed. Nevertheless, they want to tell a story together with their community in Palia, which happens, among other things, through the characters.
You play humans who are a “legendary race” in the world of Palia. At the height of their power, they suddenly disappeared and no one knew why. Now, after thousands of years, the humans have suddenly reappeared, and you need to create a new home in the unknown world.
The story develops as you form friendships or, if you wish, romantic relationships with NPCs. Each of them tells a unique story, bringing you gradually closer to the answer for the disappearance of the humans.
At the end of January, the developers introduced 23 characters that will appear in Palia on Twitter and their website. “Meet the residents of Palia and find new friends – Maybe you’ll even find someone you want to settle down with,” it says on the website. All characters are listed there for you to click through, each with a short description.
Dating is possible, but not required
With some of the characters, you can enter a romantic relationship, but you don’t have to. You choose someone and gradually build a stronger bond with that person – similar to Stardew Valley.
After the characters were introduced, players asked the question of what impact dating has on gameplay. On Valentine’s Day, Singularity 6 responded with a tweet.
The exact question was: “What gameplay advantages are there from romance in Palia?” The answer is: It’s all about the story. There are no direct rewards, only the story continues.
They wish for genuine interest from players in their characters and their stories. Therefore, they refrain from introducing gameplay advantages and leave dating as an optional part of the game.
When will Palia release? There is still no date for the release of the cozy MMORPG. In 2022, the developers conducted several closed alpha tests.
