In a blog post from June 30, the developers of ARK: Survival Evolved announced that the release of the ARK remaster will be postponed and the price will change – at least temporarily.
What is this remaster?
- Since March 31, 2023, we know that the Steam hit ARK: Survival Evolved will receive a remaster called “ARK Survival Ascended”.
- The remaster will bring ARK to Unreal Engine 5 and will be released for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5
- Because the developers want to shut down the official servers of ARK: Survival Evolved with the release of ARK Survival Ascended, there was already strong criticism from the community shortly after the announcement
- Players also criticized the price of ARK Survival Ascended as well as the fact that the DLCs should not be included. Studio Wildcard responded to the criticism in early April and changed the price and content of the remaster

What changes with the release? The release of ARK Survival Ascended, originally planned for August 2023, is postponed. The remaster of ARK is now set to be released in October 2023.
Moreover, the release plan for the DLC content is changing. ARK Survival Ascended will be released – contrary to the original plan – only with the map “The Island”. The “Scorched Earth” DLC is supposed to be added in December 2023. In the first quarter of 2023, “Aberration” and “Ragnarok” are expected to follow.
At the beginning of April, Wildcard stated that “Scorched Earth” would be included in the game at launch. In the fourth quarter of 2023, “Aberration” was supposed to be added, and in the first quarter of 2024 then “Extinction”. Maps like Ragnarok and Fjördur were expected to follow throughout 2024.

What changes with the price? ARK Survival Ascended is set to launch in October 2023 as an “Early Access” title at a reduced price, as the studio cannot deliver the contents originally promised for the release of the remaster in time.
Instead of 60 US dollars, ARK Survival Ascended will now cost 44.99 US dollars during the “Early Access” phase. At release, there will be a discount, making the remaster available for 39.99 US dollars.
How much the ARK Survival Ascended will cost in euros is not yet known in detail. However, it is to be expected that the purchase price will not differ significantly.
