MeinMMO regularly publishes rankings of characters from the anime Dragon Ball. That’s why we also asked the producer of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 to create a ranking of the coolest characters.
What does the ranking look like? In an interview at gamescom 2026, MeinMMO asked the producer of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, Masayuki Hirano, to create a ranking of the three coolest characters. The ranking was meant to be entirely subjective.
In third place, the producer puts Jeeze from the Ginyu Force, representing the entire team that becomes important around the saga on Namek. While the placement is not meant to be taken too seriously, he just thinks it’s cool how many quirky poses Jeeze has.
Surprisingly, in second place is Vegeta, who actually needs no further explanation. He is a cool antagonist who switches sides over the course of the anime, yet retains his coolness. The producer thinks the Saiyan is so cool that a particular scene in the game had to be included:
By the way, my absolute favorite animation in the game is the one where Vegeta takes out Jeeze up close. I just had to bring that into the game! (laughs)
Who can stand above Vegeta? For Hirano, it’s Yamchu, one of Son-Goku’s longest allies. And the choice shows that the producer is a true OG.

Why is Yamchu in first place? The producer states that Yamchu is simply his favorite character and a really cool person humanly speaking.
To explain: Especially at the beginning of the anime, he is still a cool guy. He travels as a desert bandit and has a particularly cool technique with his Wolf Fang Fist. Only his weakness for women makes him vulnerable.
Later in the anime, Yamchu is one of the weakest members of the Z team. He gained fame through his death pose, which many fans on the internet recreated as a meme. Eventually, he even retires as a fighter and becomes a baseball star.
How well does the producer know about Dragon Ball? Masayuki Hirano is responsible for the entire Xenoverse series. He supervised the development as a producer from the first to the third part.
He also worked on titles like Dragon Ball: Raging Blast or Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi. Accordingly, he has been involved with the franchise for over 17 years and knows it quite well.
