Last weekend, a new event in Pokémon GO featuring the Gigantamax forms of well-known starter Pokémon caused frustration among players. The development team may soon compensate trainers with special rewards.
Why were trainers frustrated? Last weekend, the toughest challenge in Pokémon GO was supposed to take place. Trainers could face the Gigantamax forms of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. However, quite a few things went wrong:
- To allow trainers to defeat the powerful Pokémon, the group size was increased to 40 players.
- Many groups, however, despite being at full capacity, were unable to defeat the bosses. Some trainers couldn’t even gather 40 people.
- Part of the player base stated that many trainers did not bring fully evolved Pokémon into battle, which weakened the group.
As a result, many trainers had no chance of securing the Gigantamax bosses. According to Pokémon GO Hub, a reliable source, there is said to be compensation from Niantic that will take effect with the next Gigantamax boss.

What is the compensation? Niantic has heard the players’ criticism and wants to make some adjustments for the upcoming Gigantamax boss. Next up is Gengar.
The following improvements are to make catching the Pokémon easier:
- Trainers will receive 25,000 Stardust upon encountering Gigantamax Gengar. For each successful battle, it would be as much as 37,500 Stardust.
- The catch rate of the Pokémon is to be increased.
- As the difficulty level has been too high, the development team intends to slightly decrease the difficulty.
So far, there are no exact figures on how much easier the battle against Dynamax Gengar will actually be. Trainers will find out at the latest when they face the new boss.
When will Gigantamax Gengar appear? The powerful Pokémon will appear from October 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM until November 3 at 8:00 PM. The Pokémon will be part of the Halloween Event Part 2.
