The Season of Discovery for WoW Classic has been in Phase 2 for a few days now. With it came Gnomeregan as a new raid and a new world boss in Stranglethorn Vale: Kha’damu. However, he is so tough that even large groups of players cannot defeat him. The first kill has now been achieved and the loot is impressive.
What kind of boss is this?
- Kha’damu, the Chosen of the Bloodloas, is a huge troll that patrols in Stranglethorn Vale.
- However, you will only find him on the servers of the Season of Discovery. There he is part of the content of the current Phase 2.
- The world boss is designed to be fought by large groups of players. However, Kha’damu attracts even more opponents than the infamous Lord Kazzak did back in the day.
This is what Kha’damu is supposed to drop: Allegedly, the boss has a mount in his loot, the Bengal tiger. This is a legendary item that has existed in the game files forever but has never been available to players in general.
Players suspected that the tiger would drop from the boss with the appearance of Kha’damu. Accordingly, there was a huge rush to defeat him – not to mention that there was already interest in the new content.
It was not until the night of Friday, March 1, that the first players succeeded in defeating the world boss.
Entire servers fail, even Game Masters help
On some US servers, several guilds coordinated and gathered to fight the world boss. Up to 500 players came together (via Reddit). Even a YouTuber shows how his “entire server” fights against the boss (via YouTube).
The reason the boss is so tough is partly because the Season of Discovery caps you at a level cap. In Phase 2, you cannot play beyond level 40. Accordingly, your characters lack a good part of their power and especially the best gear.
The curiosity about the boss’s loot was so great that even Game Masters are said to have helped in the fight. However, the World First Kill still took time to achieve.
It was not until the early morning of Friday, March 1, that there was the first official kill video. Here too, hundreds of players can be seen slowly wearing down the boss and then fighting over the loot in a lag fest:
Due to the sheer number of players, everything is lagging, even looting takes ages. However, the creator of the video can finally show what Kha’damu has dropped:
- the epic sword Bloodthirst Blade, which many two-handed players will likely be happy about – but no one can equip it
- numerous potions
- a little gold
- and of course troll sweat
The Bengal tiger was not among the world boss’s loot, at least not so far. However, it is unlikely that this mount will ever drop. Only one player has ever received it, and that as a gift for their help with cancer research.
However, it is not entirely impossible that the tiger will find its way into the game someday. After all, other mounts that were previously extremely rare are also currently circulating: WoW: In 17 years, only one player has received this mount – now hundreds of players are getting it
