Patch 8.2.5 of World of Warcraft has brought new puzzles into the game. One of them is being pursued by the “Secret Finding” Discord.
Since Legion, secrets have practically become a standard in the patches of World of Warcraft. After all, there is now quite a large community of players that only searches for new secrets and puzzles to uncover in World of Warcraft. After the first major puzzles about hidden mounts, pets, or even a belt buckle were solved relatively quickly, Blizzard has now become better at creating puzzles.
Exactly at such a puzzle, players are now once again struggling. It is about the cat “Jenafur”.
What is it about? With Patch 8.2.5, a new NPC has appeared in the Ashenvale. At coordinates 17 / 49 stands Amara Lunastern. This night elf has apparently been resurrected as undead in the War of Thorns and has been lingering in Ashenvale ever since. When you speak to her, she hopes that someone will take care of her cat. This can be confirmed to solve the first step of the puzzle and to begin.
Further steps are still unclear: After speaking with Amara, more objects appear in the game world with which you can interact.
In the instance “Return to Karazhan” (Legion), a total of 20 new food items appear that players can interact with. These include various types of alcohol, fruits, bread, and meat dishes. The food items can be picked up and then placed – however, what they are exactly for is still unknown.
The crazy cat lady Donni Anthania in Elwynn has a small bowl that is apparently intended for pet food. After speaking with Amara, players can interact with the bowl and receive a small description of it.
Mysterious dry food: Also notable is that both in Karazhan and with the crazy cat lady, tiny “dry food” appears, which can be seen on the ground if you look very closely. What this is about has not been clarified yet.
Also in Karazhan, the dialogue with Sebastian, the organist of Karazhan, changes if you have previously spoken with Amara. This is interesting in that there is a music piece in the game data called “Amara’s Wish”.
These hints and approaches exist so far, but a solution to the puzzle that leads to the conclusion of the mystery is apparently still far away.
What is the reward? At the end of the puzzle, it seems that the cat “Jenafur” will be available as a pet. This can already be viewed in the pet guide. It has some rather strange abilities for a cat, such as a tentacle strike or Dark Resurrection – abilities that suggest a connection to the Old Gods.
Whether there are any further rewards is not yet known.
What is the problem? Unlike many puzzles before, it is not possible to derive certain steps from the game data by reading it. There is very little usable information from the data mining, and the puzzle is not unambiguous. The numerous food items alone are so many puzzle pieces that forcing an answer here is difficult.
