A feature of Throne and Liberty is supposed to be the character editor. The MMORPG relies on many options and realistic facial expressions. Additionally, an AI will create your desired character based on an uploaded photo.
What does the character editor offer? In Throne and Liberty, you can basically only play humans. However, you should be able to create them in great detail. There are dozens of hairstyles, colors, and customization options, including body and head shapes. This can already be inferred from the first videos and screenshots.
Especially exciting is the AI customization. You will be able to upload photos – such as of your own appearance – and the AI will automatically recreate the person in the editor. You will also have the option to make further adjustments afterward.
Otherwise, the MMORPG prides itself on mimicking realistic facial movements. According to testers in the beta, the characters should be able to move their mouths according to the dialogues.
After games like New World or indie titles like Embers Adrift and Fractured, it seems that an MMORPG is finally coming again where you can spend hours in the editor.
Throne and Liberty looks good, but is that enough?
What else does Throne and Liberty offer? Considering that the new MMORPG is actually supposed to be released in the coming months, it’s surprisingly quiet. The last official news was three weeks ago when it was announced that Amazon would take over publishing in the West.
Many things are currently unclear, such as the scope of PvE, what role dungeons and raids will play, or how many weapons there actually are. Only the graphics have convinced both in trailers and captivated testers.

Recently, however, a lot has indicated that PvP will play a very significant role. It has also been officially confirmed that there will be open PvP at night without penalties.
Currently, monetization and a possible shop are completely unclear. It is only stated that the developers want to avoid Pay2Win as much as possible. When we will receive information about these matters is unknown.
