After Giovanni, the head of Team Rocket in Pokémon GO, has been quiet for a while, he is now back.
Who is Giovanni? This villain is already known to many fans from the console games. There he led Team Rocket and was also a Gym Leader.
In Pokémon GO, he only briefly stepped into the spotlight. Via Twitter, a message from him appeared, announcing that he was done with his machinations for the time being, but there was no more information. However, it seems that the leader of the gang is back.
Giovanni in Photobomb at the GO Fest
Players report: Trainers from the GO Fest in Yokohama report seeing Giovanni in a photobomb. Therefore, when they take photos of their Pokémon during the event, it’s not Farbeagle that jumps into the frame, but Giovanni.
It’s the first time we see the villain so directly. Previously, only silhouettes of him were recognized.
What’s behind the photobombs: Several Rocket grunts already jumped into the frame during the first GO Fests and thus announced Team Rocket. Shortly after the event in Dortmund, the grunts then appeared in the game.
Players speculate that Giovanni could also be teased this way and then enter the game at a later time. After all, it was the same with the normal Rocket grunts.
What could Giovanni do? On Reddit , players are crafting the craziest ideas surrounding Giovanni and his role in Pokémon GO.
The hottest theory is that Giovanni will occupy the Gyms in the game. The normal grunts are therefore surrounding the PokéStops, while Giovanni takes a step further and occupies the Gyms.
This could introduce legendary Shadow Pokémon that have already been found in the code.
User “Thatkayen” speculates that Giovanni could come into the game around a storyline, and we might have to battle the boss at the end. This would be a first in Pokémon GO.
