The card of a superheroine in Marvel Snap was so bugged that it was removed from the game shortly after. However, players will soon receive compensation.
Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat is part of the X-Men and has the ability to “phase” through objects. This allows her to walk through walls or become untouchable. However, compared to the other great heroes of the X-Men, she was rather inconspicuous.
But in the card game “Marvel Snap,” the inconspicuous heroine now has her big debut, albeit unintentionally: In the game, Kitty Pryde has now caused major problems. In the most frustrating case, the entire game crashed as soon as the heroine was on the opposing team.
Here is a trailer for Marvel Snap:
Kitty Pryde sometimes crashed the entire game
The card of Kitty Pryde was introduced to the game on March 28. The next day, Principal Game Designer Glenn Jones published 5 Twitter posts in which he explained the character’s mechanics in detail and pointed out some bugs.
On March 30, 2 days after the release, the card was temporarily deactivated by the developers, as they announced in a post. It was further stated that they would be working on the major problem, which the superheroine’s card was supposed to cause:
Sometimes the game would simply crash if you fought against Kitty Pryde. Therefore, they would now temporarily remove her from both matches and the shop.
“We apologize for this inconvenience and will compensate all players at a later date. We are working hard to fix this issue and will provide updates as soon as we have more information […],” it says at the end of the post.
On Discord there was a major update regarding Kitty Pryde on April 18, 2023:
We have been looking for solutions to the numerous problems of Kitty Pryde. However, we found that this would require fundamental changes to our current game engine.
Instead of changing the entire rules of the game or re-releasing a partially faulty card, we are redesigning Kitty’s design to fulfill her existing gameplay synergies and goals in a simpler way.
They are currently working on redesigning the card. The superheroine would then return to the game in a new version in the May patch.
Players who already own the card will receive 8,000 tokens as compensation and a Kitty Pryde Base Avatar. Additionally, all players will receive the new version of the superheroine for free in the May patch.
