Throne and Liberty showcased a lot of its PvP at the beginning of 2023, but PvE fans were uncertain about what to expect in the game. In a new Producer Letter, general mid and endgame content has now been presented. The bosses make a good impression visually.
What was shown exactly? The blog post was about the mid and endgame of Throne and Liberty, which is set to begin at level 30. It showcased:
- The two world bosses Malakka, the Eye of Death, and Archboss Tevent.
- Artworks for three different zones were displayed, each accompanied by a small description.
- The first instanced dungeon “The Breach.” It is aimed at a group of 6 players and is said to require typical MMO elements like tanking and support. At the end, a challenging boss and useful loot await you.
All the images immediately make you want more, especially the fight against Archboss Tevent looks exciting. It is a huge skeleton monster with purple abilities. The screenshot shows around two dozen players fighting it.
This developer letter is, by the way, a supplement to the first one, in which the new combat system and changes to the attributes and the leveling process were introduced.
We have included images of the two bosses and the final boss in the dungeon here:
A lot of PvE in the open world, but conflicts are constantly occurring
How exactly is the midgame structured? From the available information, we know that Throne and Liberty revolves a lot around leveling up and improving your equipment. For this, you can quest in the open game world and participate in dynamic events.
Some of these events are aimed only at PvE players, while others are active with PvP. You can tell by a circular marking around the event. If you enter this, you will automatically be drawn into combat with other players. However, you cannot lose much since there is no full loot and no other consequences from dying, apart from the loss of time.
New is the group dungeon, which will be unlocked at level 30. It is supposed to be challenging, while also providing a good alternative to continue collecting XP and crafting materials.
If you do not want to enter the instanced dungeon, you can visit one of the dungeons in the open world. However, PvP usually prevails there, so you have to fight other players for grind spots and rewards.
Here you can get a first glimpse of the new combat system:
Which areas await in the midgame? One area is named Orcs’ Gorge. These orcs are considered the strongest fighters in the history of the continent Solysium. There are said to be constant battles with the green-skinned beasts. Just the concept art shows the typical wooden palisades, tent buildings, and towers that one expects from these creatures.
In the second area, the Grayclaw Forest, werewolves are waiting to take you out. In the Korean presentation, there is mention of a large bridge that has been destroyed, forcing you to run through the werewolf domain.
Zone three is called Lizard Island and is a volcanic island and home to a lizard tribe.
In all three zones, the special weather system will again play a role.
What happens in the endgame? While midgame begins at level 30, you can continue playing until level 50. Only then will you have reached max level. Generally, you can continue to explore the existing content – like the dungeon or quests – or you can focus more on PvP. Because that plays an important role in the endgame.
On the one hand, there are the conflict zones. Every 2-3 days, each area becomes a conflict zone, where guilds fight for territorial control. However, this only happens one zone at a time, allowing you to avoid them well.
The second element is the battle for the large castle, which has been seen again and again in trailers. This battle only takes place every two weeks and brings some bonuses to the controlling guild, but also new tasks.
A outpost, for example, collects taxes, which, however, must be transported to the castle. Other guilds can attack this caravan and thereby seize part or even all of the taxes.
Release still in 2023 in Korea and next year for us
When will TL finally be released? The release of Throne and Liberty has been postponed from 2021 to 2022 and then to 2023. We now know, however, that the MMORPG will not be released in our region until 2024.
In Korea, it is supposed to start in December, along with all changes like the removal of autoplay and adjustments to the leveling process.
Currently, there is a beta running in North America, which, however, is under NDA.
