This week, two MMORPGs were particularly in the spotlight. In WoW WotLK Classic, the first raids opened and problematic bugs were fixed. New World, on the other hand, introduced the new patch and new servers. We at MeinMMO summarize everything important for you.
The highlights of the week:
- In New World, the new update “Brimstone Sands” is set to be released on October 18. This will bring, among other things, a new area and new story content. Additionally, fresh servers targeting new players will start at the beginning of November. Veterans cannot switch to them with their characters and the economy starts from scratch.
- On October 7, the first three raids in WoW WotLK Classic opened. Although the first players are already level 80 and are plowing through the raids, latecomers can still keep up, as our editor Benedict Grothaus explains.
- Lost Ark announced a new roadmap for the last months of 2022. This includes two new classes.
The stir of the week: One of the largest MMO studios was sold to a new owner for 642 million euros. However, nothing is expected to change for players in the meantime.
The discussion of the week: In WoW WotLK Classic, you shouldn’t look for the perfect group, at least according to some players. But not everyone agrees.
WoW brings super XP buff and a shut down MMORPG returns
This is what happened with the major MMORPGs:
- In WoW Shadowlands, a super XP buff is now active. If you can, take advantage of it to level new classes. Cortyn also explains why the world-first race in Dragonflight will be the most exciting one yet.
- In ESO, the new DLC Firesong will be released soon and we’ve summarized all the info. Additionally, we’ve reported on the quest line “House of Masks”. This is truly extraordinary and we’ll explain why.
- Guild Wars 2 provided a glimpse of upcoming content. The focus is on changes to World vs. World, an old PvP mode.
- Players of Final Fantasy XIV expressed a wish for their Animal Crossing island. However, the director is skeptical. Moreover, the new patch 6.25 has been announced for October 18 and the return of the offline fan festivals for 2023 (via Twitter).
- If you want to complete one of the rarest achievements in Lost Ark, you only need a friend and about 10 minutes.
- On October 12, new season servers will start in Black Desert (via BDO).
This is what happened with the minor MMORPGs:
- A curious bug appeared in New World this week. Through an emote, you could kill other players. This error slightly dampened the anticipation for the upcoming changes.
- Echo of Soul was discontinued in 2022, but is now coming back with a new publisher.
- In Star Trek Online, the Emperor’s Will event has been extended after issues with the rewards occurred (via MassivelyOP).
- Swords of Legends Online received a new patch with new difficulty levels for instances (via Gameforge).
This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- Traha Global is a new MMORPG set to launch on Steam in November. It resembles Lost Ark but is in third-person view.
- Embers Adrift will already be released next week. The release trailer has now been released. You can learn more about the game in our hands-on report.
- We’ve put together all important info about Ashes of Creation in a short video.
- A new MMORPG called ArcheAge War has been announced. However, no details are available yet, with one exception: the game will be rated “18+” in Korea (via MMOCulture).
