Dead by Daylight received an update on November 22, 2022, which not only brought a new chapter but also a cool feature to the game: You can now practice as a killer before you have to dive into PvP matches.
If you previously purchased a new killer or started fresh as a killer, you had to compete directly against other players. Although you could read everything about the killer and their perks, you could only test them in a real match.
With update 6.4.0, there comes a change that can alter your entire existence as a killer. Anyone starting fresh can first practice with bots and doesn’t have to embarrass themselves in PvP matches because they keep missing or don’t fully understand their perks.
Face off against up to 4 bots
How can I practice as a killer? You click on “Custom Game” in the main menu. There, you select on the left side that you want to play as a killer. By clicking on the respective plus sign, you can add 1-4 bots, for which a random survivor will be chosen.
Also exciting is that in custom games, you have all perks available at the highest level. This way, you can experiment better with what exactly you want to play and level up when it matters later on.
How good are the bots? Currently, different difficulty levels cannot be set. The bots play quite okay when one is just starting out as a killer. They diligently repair generators, heal each other, and run away from you. They even throw down pallets. However, they often leave each other hanging on hooks, but real players do that occasionally too.
Update also brings a new killer and survivor
With the DLC “Forged in Fog”, a new killer has also entered the game: The Knight. As the trailer has already revealed, the Knight can summon guards that assist him. He enters the “Summoning Mode” to summon 3 different guards that appear in a fixed sequence. Then, he sets a path for them to patrol.
Alternatively, the Knight can instruct the guard to destroy a specific object, for example, a pallet. Then, the guard will appear, perform the action, and disappear again.
There’s also a new survivor in Dead by Daylight. His name is Vittorio Toscano and, as usual, he comes with 3 perks. You can read more about the perks of the killer and survivor here.
