The MMORPG Project TL (PC, consoles) aims to bring the legendary Korean game series Lineage into the new era. After years of silence, NCSoft is now back and has posted 10 new concept arts. A beta is announced for the first half of 2020.
This is the current status of Project TL: Developer NCSoft had actually announced that Project TL (The Lineage) would definitely be released in 2019 but that did not happen.
The last we heard about the MMORPG was a statement from November 2019. At that time, NCSoft stated that Project TL is “fully in development”, so it is difficult to make a concrete statement about a release date.
The team is currently focused on enhancing the “overall quality” of Project TL, which will take a bit more time. Therefore, the goal now is for Project TL to enter a closed beta in the first half of 2020.
These are the new images: NCSoft today released 10 images of Project TL on the Korean blog. Individual images showcase regions familiar to fans from the Lineage games and are labeled with names like “Black Anvil Dwarf Region”, “Dragon’s Nest”, “Frozen Castle”; “Windawood Castle”, “Windwood Wood Ants”, “Kent Village”, “Black Knight Bastion”.
Project TL aims to enter a beta in 2020 – also in the EU?
What kind of game is Project TL? This is not easy to say at the moment. Most of the information we have is still from the last iteration of the game, “Lineage Eternal.” However, NCSoft shelved that in 2017 and then built Project TL on its ruins.
Based on what we know and suspect, Project TL is supposed to:
- appear for PC but also consoles
- be an action MMORPG from an isometric perspective
- possibly offer 13 classes
- be developed with Unreal Engine 4
And it should actually be planned for Europe, as Lineage Eternal was just about to enter a global beta before it was cancelled.
