The First Descendant has received its first new descendant since release with Luna. Her playstyle resembles Guitar Hero.
Who is the new heroine? Luna is the new support descendant of The First Descendant. She is both a soldier and a singer. With her musical abilities, Luna can support her teammates on the battlefield. She was introduced with the Patch 1.0.5.
If you haven’t played Luna yet, feel free to check out the first gameplay trailer:
Why does Luna remind of Guitar Hero? Luna relies on music. One of her abilities is called Stage Presence. When you activate this ability, Luna’s weapon transforms into her unique synthesizer pistol. With the synthesizer pistol, you need to shoot or use skills in time with the music.
This looks like Guitar Hero: Symbols move along a track on your screen from bottom to top, and when these symbols are in your crosshair, you need to shoot or use the desired skill. If you miss the timing when using a skill, the skill fails and the cooldown is activated.
When you shoot or use a skill with the synthesizer pistol in time, it also increases Luna’s inspiration level. When the maximum is reached, a skill can be used in an enhanced variant.
Many players are currently sharing their detailed impressions of the new heroine.
What are players saying about the newest descendant? Luna has a special playstyle that requires you to pay attention to many things at once to use her abilities efficiently. Timing can become difficult, especially in a boss fight. Many fans have mixed opinions and wish for adjustments.
- “I think the rhythm element is fine, but the penalties need to be removed. […] Removing penalties reduces the pressure to play the mini-game well and allows for aggressive shooting when necessary.” (via reddit)
- “[…] The multitasking is real. Avoid mistakes, position yourself, fight enemies to be as efficient as possible, activate the aura when you can, and pray that you are not too far from the others, all while I play ‘Guitar Hero’.” (via reddit)
- “I don’t see her in the meta […] Even if all other characters are better for their roles, I will use her because she is the most fun. However, I understand why people don’t like her[…]” (via reddit)
The main criticism of Luna for many players is that she requires too much attention to various aspects during a battle: your positioning, the position of your teammates, the rhythm… this does not suit every player.
