- Eternal Magic was discontinued on January 10. It made headlines mainly for stealing assets from Guild Wars 2 and WoW.
- Kritika Reboot, on the other hand, is dying for the second time. The server shutdown has been announced for February.
- On a positive note, there was the announcement of new servers for Final Fantasy XIV. Sales are also expected to resume in January.

This is what happened with the major MMORPGs:
- WoW lost a developer this week known for many special features. Additionally, phase three will start on January 27 in WoW Burning Crusade Classic.
- Naoki Yoshida, the head of FFXIV, has given a preview of the next addon.
- The developers of ESO provided new information regarding the performance issues in PvP. Also, on January 20, the celebrations for the Daedric War will begin, which you should definitely participate in.

- Disney is working on an MMORPG in the Avatar universe.
