- Eternal Magic was discontinued on January 10. It made headlines mainly for stealing assets from Guild Wars 2 and WoW.

This is what happened with the major MMORPGs:
- WoW lost a developer this week known for many special features. Additionally, phase three will start on January 27 in WoW Burning Crusade Classic.
- Naoki Yoshida, the head of FFXIV, has given a preview of the next addon.

- Disney is working on an MMORPG in the Avatar universe.
