In The First Descendant, many players often search for materials that are not as rare as they think. The reason for the shortage is often a hidden mechanic.
What is the problem? In The First Descendant, there are various materials and loot that you gain for completing your missions. A popular source for farming new loot are enemy outposts.
You can complete an outpost loudly with lots of gunfire or silently eliminate your enemies. Depending on the approach you choose, there is different loot. However, some players are not aware of this.
Here you can find out what the encrypted vaults are and where to find them:
Sneaking for Loot
What kind of mechanic is this? In The First Descendant, you can only obtain some materials if you complete the outpost missions quietly, meaning stealthily. Many players are unfamiliar with this mechanic and spend their hours in the game hastily and loudly eliminating all enemies.
This prevents many players from getting the materials that are only available through sneaking, causing them to always have too little of these. If players were to complete the outposts more stealthily, they wouldn’t experience a shortage of the materials that are only available for quiet completion.
As one user reported on Reddit, the fact is so unknown that he often finds himself in discussions in the game when he suggests to sneak through the mission instead of eliminating all enemies with a loud bang.
Why is this not known? The problem lies in the description of the mechanic. The game refers to the requirement for extra materials as “successful infiltration”. This doesn’t sound to everyone like they need to complete the mission stealthily.
Additionally, many players are not aware that they depend on the descendant Sharen to complete an outpost quietly. You can try as hard as you want, but with a Bunny or a Valby, the “successful infiltration” will not be achieved.
The user AZSharpe only realized this through a post on Reddit: “Oh. My. God. I have just made the connection. This is a somewhat vague description to imply that you are stealthy. I thought this mission was called infiltration, so only a completed mission would be a successful one. Wow! I wonder what else I haven’t understood properly.”
Also, more_stuff_yo finds on Reddit that the mechanic is well hidden: “Aside from the poor phrasing, players cannot see the additional rewards without scrolling all the way down the tooltip when they see the outpost on the map. If someone approaches from the access side, they will likely only see the highlight and won’t even realize that they need a successful infiltration rating. […]”
Not so good for stealth but perfect against bosses is the character Freyna. She is a poison expert and can melt bosses away with a build just enough. The First Descendant Freyna Build: This is how you melt bosses in hard mode
