In The Division we ask the question: Will you create a new character with Update 1.4 or will you continue your journey with your existing agents?
The end of the PTS phase is in sight, the release of Patch 1.4 is already visible on the horizon. Slowly but surely you can dust off your agent outfit and start thinking about how to proceed. Many former agents have turned their backs on the post-apocalypse weeks and months ago, but now and then they still glance at how the shared-world shooter is supposed to change with Update 1.4.
Massive admitted in August that their game is currently no longer fun, that there are too many bugs and too many issues in the past. Some of you have therefore checked in every now and then to see how the game is supposed to be saved – partly out of curiosity, but also to see what more you get for your money. After all, many bought the season pass early, from which two major DLCs are still pending.
And now it is almost time. Update 1.4 seems to be mature. The launch is imminent.
New experience, new agent?
The update 1.4 is supposed to completely overhaul the player experience – from the progression system to the loot system to the power of your agents and all skills, talents, and gear sets. There is essentially no area in The Division that has remained unscathed by the changes. You can find all the major new features of Update 1.4 here.
Your agent(s) will not be the same as before. Some items and mods have been equipped with new rolls and skills. You will need to check what the agent can do now – and what not. For example, if you built around the B.L.I.N.D. set, your agent will now look completely different. Because B.L.I.N.D. is no longer available. It has been replaced by the Banshee set.
Moreover, some of you may not have set foot in The Division for weeks or months. This raises the question: Wouldn’t it be better to start fresh?
Ttime says: I can think of four ways to handle it after the launch of Update 1.4:
- A new character: Creating a new character (you don’t have to delete the old one right away) indeed has some advantages. On the one hand, the game from level 1-30 was really good. In the past, almost everything in The Division was criticized – however, the story missions and the game before the endgame were not. Experiencing this again is certainly worth it. On the other hand, the progression system has been drastically overhauled. Even in the endgame, you now “logically” level up from one world tier to the next. Furthermore, an important note: Until the Survival DLC there are no new activities to play. Only the existing content has been revised and improved. So you definitely have enough time to level up another character.
- No, creating a new character is not an option for you. You have invested an incredible amount of time and effort into your agents. Therefore, they should endure all future adventures in the post-apocalypse. Although you haven’t played in a while, you’ll get back into it and see what the agent can do now and improve him further.
- You have been actively playing The Division in recent weeks and have followed all the changes that Update 1.4 brings. You continue playing without a major break and are looking forward to the new features.
- Or Patch 1.4 comes too late for you. You let the agent outfit gather dust in the closet and wait to see what new content Survival brings.
