In The Division 2 you can earn rewards by dancing with others and behaving properly towards your teammates. This way, you unlock commendations by simply being nice to others.
What are the rewards about? Once you have completed the campaign, The Division 2 is not over yet. Now it’s time to fight through the endgame, explore the open world, and complete collectibles.
Additionally, there is a progression system in The Division 2 called “commendations.”
You can find the commendations in the menu on the right under “Progress.” Now switch to the “Commendations” tab at the top right.
Commendations for kind, helpful teammates
These are commendations: The commendations consist of 125 goals that you can achieve in The Division 2. The commendations grant points, with which you can rank up, as well as additional rewards. These are arm patches – purely cosmetic items that adorn your agent.
The commendations are divided into 5 categories, each with 25 goals:
- “Combat”
- “Tactical”
- “Discovery”,
- “Teamwork”
- and “Service”
These are the silly tasks: Especially under the category “Teamwork,” you get to do a few funny things together with other agents to unlock the commendations and earn patches.
- Award for synchronized gestures: For this, all group members in a group of 4 agents must perform the same gesture at the same time. This rewards those who uplift their teammates’ morale with moments of light-heartedness, according to Massive. You execute gestures by pressing the down arrow key, then selecting a gesture with the right stick and pressing X (PS4).
- Pav Award: You must perform a dance gesture in a public area while other agents watch. Another agent should then also perform a dance gesture. In other words, you need to get other agents to dance along. According to Massive, this award is only given to those who maintain morale by uplifting their fellow agents.
These are commendations for positive behavior:
- Award for foam rescue: If a group member is hit by a sticky foam from the chem launcher, you must help them out.
- Merit as a Dark Zone medic: You need to heal agents in each Dark Zone who are not in your group. A total of 5 agents per Dark Zone. So get out there and selflessly heal other players.
- Award for lifesaving: Respond to a stranger’s call for reinforcements in a main operation, revive an agent in your group, and complete the objective with the group without using a healing skill. According to Massive, this award is only for agents who show compassion and stick together in tough times.
This is how Massive wants to keep you engaged with commendations: Many commendations in the “Service” category require strong perseverance – and may foster long-term motivation for some. For instance, you should:
- Play for 12 months on 14 days each month
- Play at least one hour on 100 days and deliver 20 resources to checkpoints
- Spend 672 hours of in-game time
- Play for at least one hour every day for 30 consecutive days and finish a mission
Most other commendations relate to how you kill enemies in specific ways or complete missions under certain conditions.
