This is what the press says about The Division 2
That’s why there are still no final ratings for Division 2: The press is currently busy working on reviews for The Division 2. But anyone looking for a final verdict or a scoring number will (still) be disappointed.
The game only reveals its full potential after completing the campaign, where the key aspects of a successful looter-shooter come into play. Consequently, many aspects such as Loot, Endgame or long-term motivation need to be evaluated, which only gradually emerge. Therefore, almost all reviews at the moment are still “Work in Progress”.
This is what the press has said so far about The Division 2: We have taken a closer look at numerous reviews from the international press and provide you with a compact overview of what the first voices are saying – even though there are still no final ratings.

GameSpot – “Encouraging”
The US site GameSpot has summarized its impressions in a detailed preview review. You can read it here: The Division 2 GameSpot Review
It states that The Division 2 might overwhelm players a bit with its many features and possibilities at the beginning – even for those who played the first part. But once you get the hang of it, it really draws players in.
The title is said to be very promising. The game world is particularly fantastic and very alive. The progression feels good, and the combat scenarios, weapons, numerous enemies, and skills remain interesting and engaging throughout the playthrough. Everywhere you look, you see the many little details that the developers have put into The Division 2 – even in the smallest things.

GamesRadar – “I already enjoy Division 2 more than Anthem”
The site GamesRadar has also tested The Division 2. You can read their complete impressions here: The Division 2 GamesRadar Review
They highlight that The Division 2 excellently manages to hide the grind aspect of the game behind engaging and convincing gameplay.
You make constant progress, the gameplay is smooth, the world is captivating, and there is a lot to do, resulting in numerous “Just 5 more minutes” moments. Additionally, the effects of your heroic deeds in the game feel tangible.
Moreover, the developers at Massive prove with The Division 2 that years of “polishing” the predecessor and learned lessons from other games in this genre pay off in the end – even in comparison to the direct competitor Anthem.

PC Gamer – “A game packed with looting and shooting that makes a great first impression”
On the site PC Gamer, The Division 2 also makes a great impression. You can find the full review here: The Division 2 PC Gamer Review
The game impresses in many aspects and improves on the predecessor in many ways. Story, side missions, rewards, progression, the world, the atmosphere – all of this and more are much stronger now than in the first part.
The Division 2 is a large game that will potentially grow even larger over the course of the first year with numerous free updates. It feels now like a completed successor to The Division, from a team that has consistently learned a lot about its target audience during development.
The Division 2 could be the right looter-shooter at just the right time.

IGN – “My overall impression is still positive”
IGN has already played The Division 2 with early access since March 11 and has been consistently gathering impressions since then. You can find out what they are like here: The Division 2 IGN Review
By now, they are almost at the endgame and have found that The Division 2 becomes increasingly entertaining as progress continues. The game is already better than its predecessor in numerous areas – especially in places where The Division 1 sometimes faltered.
The gunplay is more engaging, the enemies and their mechanics are more varied, the loot is more generous and interesting, and the world is simply breathtakingly executed. Additionally, the feeling of progress is surprisingly well implemented.
Currently, The Division 2 feels very good, and the impressions so far are mostly positive. However, there is still uncertainty about how it will perform in the endgame.

Windows Central – “A polished and addictive shooter”
You can read detailed impressions of The Division 2 collected by Windows Central here: The Division 2 Windows Central Review
Ubisoft and Massive have clearly implemented feedback from the predecessor with The Division 2 and created an almost perfect successor that captivates players from the start.
While they haven’t revolutionized the gameplay of the predecessor, they have consistently advanced it in exactly the right places. As a result, the game simply feels better in almost every aspect compared to The Division 1 based on what has been evaluated so far.
But as convincing as The Division 2 may be so far, the true test for the game is, according to the author, still ahead – namely in the form of the endgame after completing the story. One hopes that Massive has also learned from its mistakes here.

Destructoid – “Your time doesn’t feel wasted”
The colleagues at Destructoid also find that The Division 2 makes a solid impression so far. You can read their current review here: The Division 2 Destructoid Review
Even though they still haven’t quite nailed the character creation, they have otherwise managed everything else solidly.
The Division 2 offers polished looter-shooter mechanics from the start and a lot of variety in gameplay. This time, it looks like they have finally created a Division game that is also worth it in the long run.
The best part is that none of your time feels wasted. Missions don’t feel like filler for leveling and are varied, the battles are engaging, the enemies are better, and the different skills play a more significant role.
The Division 2 is a polished shooter that does a lot right. Currently, it doesn’t look like this title, unlike its predecessor, will need a bigger update to save the game.

This is what players say about The Division 2
In addition to the press, many players have already formed their own opinions and actively share them in forums and Reddit.
This is the mood among fans: A popular Thread by Redditor bearlover23 on this topic summarizes the mood of the fans well and exemplarily.
This user expressed their thoughts in an extensive post after almost 30 hours of gameplay and received a lot of agreement and confirmation from other players. It is stated there, among other things, “This is the new standard. This is why I am here (in The Division 2) and how I wish for other games in this genre.”

On Metacritic, The Division 2 currently has a user score of
- 8.1 on PS4 with 261 ratings
- 7.9 on PC with 14 ratings
- and 7.8 on Xbox One with 65 ratings
Fans particularly praise
- the vast scope, there is a lot to do – and almost at every corner
- the successful, vibrant game world
- the dense atmosphere and immersion
- great graphics (on PC with appropriate hardware)
- the story as well as the mission design of the main and side missions
- the loot
- many improvements and consistent developments from the predecessor
- the extensive options for build creation
- the enemy AI. Enemies don’t just stand around, but act tactically and noticeably differently depending on type and faction

However, criticisms include
- mainly bugs
- as well as some technical problems
- some mechanics of the game, such as sometimes too extreme cooldown times for skills or weapon mods. These now bring disadvantages for the damage output of weapons alongside benefits for handling resulting in many currently completely avoiding these mods
- a silent protagonist. Your character does not speak, which bothers some fans
As soon as the press provides concrete ratings expressed in numbers, we will give an overview of this.
