The Division 2 will go into maintenance on Monday morning at 10:00 AM for four hours to improve the current Explorer Event. During this time, the servers will be down. There have been some complaints from players about the low chances of Event Caches. Massive wants to counter this with an update.
What’s currently happening in the event for The Division 2? Since September 24, the “Explorer Event” has been running on the servers of Division 2. Players receive Event Caches by reaching level-ups or completing projects, which contain special cosmetics.
The current event brings nearly 30 new clothing items into the game and is associated with the Washington Museum from Division 2, coming with a pilot cap and trapper hat.
What’s wrong with the event? There have been a lot of complaints about the low chance of getting Event Caches when reaching Field Proficiency, the Division equivalent of a level-up.
For many players, these level-ups are the main source of the Event Caches.
What is changing now in the event
- Increased chance of receiving an Explorer Cache upon level-up
- Caches can be collected until October 15
- that’s one week longer than planned
- afterwards, you can still buy caches with real money premium credits for one more week and open existing caches
- Event Caches are active until October 22
- The event will end then, and the Explorer Caches will disappear for now
Maintenance on Monday morning – How long will the servers be down?
- Maintenance begins on Monday, October 7 at 10:00 AM
- No access to the servers of The Division 2
- The maintenance is expected to end around 2:00 PM
This is how the developers are reacting to the community’s feedback: In fact, the maintenance on Monday will improve the drop chance of the Event Clothing Caches, and the “Explorer Event” remains active for one week longer. This shows that the people at Massive directly responded to the players’ feedback in the past few days.
Developers react to criticism
This is what the developers initially said about the problem with the event: Chris Gansler, The Division 2 Community Developer, responded a few days ago to the growing frustration on Reddit and made it clear that the developers are aware of the problem:
Hello! We agree with your feedback about the stretches of bad RNG where it can take a lot of Field Proficiency or Dark Zone Caches before you get another Apparel Event Cache key. We know it can be frustrating when you don’t get a key, and the game does not provide you with this feedback or tells you if and when you’ll get a key next.
For future events, we’re currently looking at solutions which would allow you to have a more predictable path to acquire event keys and better feedback from the games’ UI.
Chris Gansler on Reddit
In his post on Reddit, Chris Gansler addresses players who have received very few caches from level-ups so far and understands how frustrating it is when no Event Cache drops after multiple level-ups.
Since the game also does not give any indication of when you will receive the next Event Cache, this can be very annoying.
He also mentions that solutions are already being sought for future events to make the cache distribution more comprehensible and to allow Agents to check their progress.
Caches will be distributed more generously
However, Massive has now decided to adjust the current event and respond quickly to player feedback. With the patch on Monday, October 7, the chance of receiving Event Caches will be increased.
The largest expansion to date is coming
Isn’t the next Title Update 6 approaching? The release of Title Update 6 has been announced for mid-October, bringing many new contents and changing some mechanics in the game. The update is supposed to be released simultaneously with the content expansion “Episode 2”.
