In The Division 2, reports are piling up about a mysterious NPC that follows agents and flees using smoke bombs upon sight or contact. The community is now speculating about what could be behind this.
What is it about, exactly? Agents repeatedly report about mysterious foes who disappear in a smoke bomb during direct confrontations. The mostly harmless ninjas disrupt the displays of nearby agents and appear to closely observe what the “Division” is doing in Washington.
With a lot of patience and attention, some players set out to find these mysterious figures. The agent “Sofademon”, known as “Mobär” on YouTube, uploaded a short video about the appearance of one of these agent-stalkers.
Evil Stalker Intentionally Scares Agents
What do players think about the mysterious NPC? Although these intrusive individuals have been spotted repeatedly for some time, there is still no official statement from the developers regarding this phenomenon.
This leaves room for the wildest speculations, which agents are happy to take.
The 13th Hunter/Easter Egg
- Some players claim to have heard a hunter-typical sound upon the appearance of the enemies and therefore suspect their origin in the hunter milieu. Possibly an Easter egg hinting at the hunters from Division 1.
- Arguments in favor: Hunter design, typical sound, mysterious motives.
- Arguments against: Appears during the day as well.
Unsolved Mystery
- The Division 2 is full of crazy secrets and out-of-the-box puzzles. It is quite possible that this manifestation represents a yet unsolved riddle.
- Arguments in favor: Developers have mentioned repeatedly that not all mysteries have been discovered.
- Arguments against: A game like Division 2 produces hardcore puzzle solvers who would have somehow figured out the mystery behind the enemy.
New Exotic Quest
- With an upcoming update, the NPC could drop an exotic component or start a quest that leads to a new exotic item. The ninja smoke bomb exit could be a reference to the “NinjaBike Messenger Bag”.
- Arguments in favor: Developers are holding back on announcements for new exotics.
- Arguments against: The mission could be directly fully integrated instead of just putting a small part of it into the game.
However, there were also other players who didn’t think much about the meaning behind the strange figure, but rather about their heart health.
It happened to me at the near to the underground mall. Scared the living s**t out of me.

Others are quite fascinated by the possibilities that an expansion of the hunter gameplay could bring to the game.
Idea: missions that are invaded by hunters. no other npc’s, just varying numbers of hunters at different sections. 1 hunter mission per week, challenging and heroic difficulties only, huge loot potential.

The search is difficult
And how do I find the mysterious fellow? Here, the opinions also differ. While some are convinced that the twelve normal hunters must be eliminated before the “stalker hunter” appears, others believe that being attentive is enough.
If you want to have the chance to experience this mystery for yourself, you should pay attention to your HUD. The SHD components are disturbed by the presence of the “stalker” and your displays have a small electrical disturbance, like with an EMP. If there are no signs of another enemy nearby, one of these types could be within your shooting range.
Then look around closely and be vigilant. In the video above, you can see what the NPC looks like and the disturbance he causes.
Title Update 6 arrives in mid-October
When is the next update for The Division 2 coming? The developers are actively working on the next expansion and there has already been a lot of information about balancing and new features.
The big Title Update 6 is supposed to be released in mid-October and comes along with the free content expansion “Episode 2”. Massive has already revealed a lot about new mechanics and balancing:
However, the developers have held back on the topic of content so far. It is only certain that “Episode 2” will send the Division agents to the Pentagon.
