The survival shooter “The Day Before” ranks second in the list of most wished-for games on Steam. However, some in the community are skeptical about whether the game will be as good as it seems in the trailers.
What kind of game is The Day Before? The game will be a survival shooter and open-world MMO, where you fight for your life in a zombie apocalypse.
The gameplay involves searching for resources, such as weapons and food, and exploring the game world with vehicles. At the same time, you must watch out for the constant threat from zombies as well as other players. Because even the survivors are out to get each other and kill to obtain vital items.
The game is currently ranked second in the list “most wished for” on Steam right behind Hogwarts Legacy (as of January 24, 2023).

The trailers excite, but also raise first doubts
Why are many users excited? The insights provided by the developers about the game look promising and spark excitement in the community. However, many are also skeptical.
Many users praise in the comments the announcement trailer on YouTube from a year ago, how great the game looks. However, many also express concerns about whether the game will actually turn out like the trailer suggests:

What issues are there with The Day Before? The new gameplay trailer, which you can see above, has also caused some players to doubt. Because several users believe that The Day Before looked better in older clips and that the game must have made graphical compromises.
The gaming website PCGamer has gathered what it considers the three biggest “red flags” regarding The Day Before, which it believes give reason for doubt:
- The developer’s last game, Propnight, is performing mediocre on Steam, with balanced player reviews (as of January 24, 2023).
- So far, only scripted demos have been shown, no authentic gameplay footage yet.
- Basic questions, such as whether there are other transport options besides cars and armored vehicles, have yet to be answered in the official Discord channel, even though the release is coming up soon.
Furthermore, the game was supposed to be released at the end of June 2022, but was delayed. There was also a controversy regarding unpaid volunteers that the developer studio was looking for last year. Both of these shook players’ optimism and raised initial concerns about how good The Day Before could truly turn out to be.
When will The Day Before be released? On Steam, the expected release date has been set for March 1, 2023.
