After the characters appeared in black and white in the manga of One Piece, manga artist Eiichiro Oda later depicts them in color. However, Blackbeard’s father doesn’t look like many fans thought.
Warning, spoiler: The article is based on the status of chapter 1165 of the One Piece manga. The incident at God Valley is included.
Who is it about? Rocks D. Xebec turns out to be the father of Blackbeard, one of the strongest Devil Fruit users. He was involved in the God Valley incident, where several fighters like Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger faced each other.
Unfortunately, antagonist Imu used his most powerful attack and took control over Xebec. This ultimately led him to hunt down his own family – including his son Blackbeard.
As Blackbeard has black, curly hair and darker skin, many fans assumed that his father must look similar. However, the latest coloring by creator Oda shows that they were mistaken.
New colors fuel theory about another son
What does he look like? On the X account of One Piece insider pewpiece, Xebec is seen in color. However, unlike his son, he does not have black hair and darker skin, but instead has a pale complexion and blue/white hair.

Why does this confuse fans? Fans in the comments would have thought that Blackbeard inherited his appearance from him. They now wonder where Ruffy’s enemy’s appearance could come from.
Others clarify that it could be genetically conditioned either from the mother or the grandparents, from whom Blackbeard inherited his appearance. His mother Eris has not yet been shown in color.
However, this raises a new theory about another family member who also has blue hair.
What do they believe now? The theory suggests that Buggy, the clown, could be Xebec’s son. Both have blue hair, and Buggys parents have never been seen so far. In addition, their ages could match somewhat.
One user believes that it would make more sense if Buggy and Shanks are in the same age group and Buggy was born at God Valley itself.
Whether the theory is true will likely only be revealed to the readers of the manga in a few weeks, months, or even years. The end of One Piece is still far away, even though Oda has hinted at it several times. What else is yet to come, you can see on MeinMMO: When does the story of One Piece end?
