The top active streamer with the most followers on Twitch is Turner “Tfue” Tenney, the 22-year-old Fortnite star. Unlike many other streamers, he is currently not in the “Valorant” hype. While he thinks the tactical shooter is good, he also calls it a “CS:GO aimed more at casual players.”
This is what Tfue says about Valorant: Tfue is critical of the new shooter from Riot Games. He says: “Valorant is like a CS:GO that is more suitable for casuals. If you want to die from damn airstrikes, then play the damn Valorant. If you want to play a game that truly requires skill, then go play CS:GO.”
Valorant is good and will certainly be a success, but Tfue doesn’t see how the game can become bigger than CS:GO in esports. Because you can die from “damn rockets, grenades, and other crap.”
Previously, Tfue had called Valorant a good game, but criticized that the game is too slow and is more suited for “older people,” and young people would not play Valorant.
The Number One on Twitch Increases in March 2020
This is the situation for Tfue on Twitch: The Fortnite streamer Tfue (7.9 million followers) is currently experiencing a resurgence on Twitch, after it seemed like something had gone wrong in the past months. Just the endlessly long Season 1 in Fortnite probably irked him, like many other Twitch streamers.
Tfue has been more present on Twitch than before. In September 2019, when the streamer became number one on Twitch after Ninja’s departure and after surpassing Shroud, he even took a break because he was unhappy.
In the last 30 days, Tfue has:
- streamed 68% more hours than before
- had 46% more average viewers than before
- thereby recorded a 151% increase in viewer hours on his Twitch channel
Surely, Tfue’s resurgence on Twitch has to do with the current lockdown due to Corona. Additionally, Tfue has experimented with some new strange content forms: he has streamed with E-Girls.
Although Tfue has an average of 25,000 viewers when playing Fortnite, which is significantly lower than his top values from May 2019 (58,000 viewers), he remains the streamer with the most followers on Twitch by a wide margin. He is nearly 2 million followers ahead of Myth.

Tfue is both a Top Streamer and a Top Shooter Player
What’s behind it: Tfue is extremely competitive. For a successful streamer, this is unusual: most are more entertainers than performance gamers. Tfue was the only major Fortnite streamer who qualified for the 2019 World Cup. All others, including Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, failed.
Thus, Tfue has a unique perspective: he is both an outstanding streamer and a successful esports athlete.
He has already critically noted about Valorant that you need team members to succeed. He wishes for a game that puts more value on individual actions and offers fewer things outside of the shooter mechanics.
At present, Tfue’s criticism of Valorant goes against the current trend of his streamers and esports players who hope for a new chance from Valorant and therefore switch from Fortnite or other titles like Overwatch to Valorant.
Tfue is currently number one on Twitch and seems to continue with Fortnite – even though that game also has a lot of difficulties in qualifying as a “competitive esports title.” Because in Fortnite, you can also die from rockets, grenades, and all sorts of other things.
Tfue’s core criticism is:
- As an esports athlete, he finds Valorant too lacking in shooter skill. The skills in the game should only have “utility” character. For Tfue, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
- As a Twitch streamer, he finds the shooter too slow and tactical.
Another major streamer on Twitch, Dr Disrespect, has also recently given Valorant a try. However, he claimed that he was distributing Twitch Drops and thus beta access to Valorant: a lie.
