The biggest German streamer on Twitch is Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris. On Saturday evening, February 19, he announced that he will not be streaming for the time being. He has reached the lowest point of his life and will need time to find himself again. He does not know when he will return to Twitch. The announcement was preceded by a scandal involving NFTs.
This is what MontanaBlack says: At 20:48 on February 19, 2022, the controversial streamer from Buxtehude posted a tweet:
“I’m checking in too.
Right now, I’m probably at the lowest point of my life, physically and mentally.
Some things have happened outside the internet, and [I] will need my time to get back to who I was: When or how, [I come back], I don’t know myself right now. Thank you”

What kind of things have happened? We do not want to speculate here about the private matters that occurred outside the internet.
What has happened on the internet is well known. In recent weeks, MontanaBlack has accepted advertising deals for various NFTs. He has received money to promote the controversial products on his Twitter channel by hosting giveaways.
There were problems here twice:
- Once, MontanaBlack promoted NFTs of apes, where an ape wore a Nazi uniform. MontanaBlack initially dismissed the outrage as exaggerated but later admitted a mistake and apologized for his initial downplaying.
- Just a few days ago, MontanaBlack promoted an NFT that later faced allegations of being a fraud. He faced harsh criticism online for this. It was even said that MontanaBlack does not care about his fans; he only cares about money.
- Additionally, he is repeatedly involved in conflicts, for example, with the streamer “Tanzverbot”.
MontanaBlack was not on Twitch last week, not on Twitter
What else stands out? It has been quiet around MontanaBlack for a while before the announcement last night. Actually, the streamer is on air several times a week, but last week he did not stream on a single day.
The last stream was on Sunday, February 13, when he had an average of 47,000 viewers. Since February 14, MontanaBlack has also not tweeted anything. Most recently, MontanaBlack had a conflict on Twitter with Elias Nerlich, an esports athlete and content creator (via twitter).
After the scandal over NFTs, MontanaBlack has not been on the air anymore. However, he does not address these issues online in his tweet but emphasizes reasons “outside the internet”.
MontanaBlack’s statement that he has reached the “lowest point of his life” is also so distressing because the streamer’s past is known and not lacking in low points.
