In Pokémon GO the great Hoenn Tour will take place in February. Before the event starts, you should best hatch your eggs. Why this could be worthwhile for you, we have summarized here on MeinMMO.
What event is it about? On February 25 and 26, 2023, Niantic will host the great Hoenn Tour worldwide in Pokémon GO. During this event, you can look forward to numerous spawns from the 3rd generation of games. However, you should already start preparing for the tour event: hatch eggs.
In the game, you only have limited spaces for your eggs. If these are all occupied, you cannot secure new ones and may miss out on coveted monsters from the event. Which Pokémon you shouldn’t miss and how to best approach hatching now, we have summarized for you below.
That’s why you should hatch your eggs now
The great Hoenn Tour is already around the corner and will bring you a lot of Pokémon from the Hoenn region on the last weekend of February. In addition to the numerous wild spawns and various raid bosses, the contents of the eggs can also be quite rewarding for you.
For this reason, the reddit user Diavalo88 encourages his fellow players to prepare for the upcoming event and hatch eggs vigorously. He writes (via reddit.com): “Start removing your 5/7/10 km eggs before the Hoenn Tour.”
We explain which contents you will find in the 2-, 5-, 7-, 10-, and 12-km eggs in February 2023:
Why is hatching worthwhile? While you usually shouldn’t clear out your egg box for most other events, it definitely makes sense to do so for the Hoenn Tour. The event eggs contain a lot of interesting monsters. You should definitely secure the 10 km eggs.
In these, according to current information, you can encounter the regional Pokémon of the 3rd generation. Therefore, you can expect Qurtel, Tropius, and Relicanth, which can also hatch as shinies for the first time with some luck. To not miss out, you should prepare accordingly.
But the other event eggs also include cool Pokémon for the Hoenn Tour that could interest some trainers. You will also have the chance for a shiny variant with all of them. You can look forward to the following monsters:
- 2 km eggs: Pichu, Fluffeluff, Geckarbor, Flemmli, Hydropi, Azurill, and Isso
- 5 km eggs: Gehweiher, Schluppuck, and Tuska
- 7 km eggs: Knacklion, Barschwa, Kindwurm, and Tanhel
Here we show you which regional Pokémon are also in the game and where to find them.
How to make space in the egg bag
How can you remove eggs? Unlike with unwanted items in the item bag or monsters in Pokémon storage, you cannot simply delete eggs. The only way to remove them from your box is to hatch them. And that can take quite a bit of time.
Each trainer has only 9 egg slots available in the game, plus three more for collecting eggs from Rocket battles or from adventure sync. To receive new eggs, corresponding slots in this storage must be free.
The eggs have different distances you must cover to hatch the respective monsters. Diavalo88 specifically mentions the eggs with a distance of 5, 7, and 10 kilometers, as these take the longest to hatch.
How should you proceed now? You still have a few days until the start of the Hoenn Tour. You should use this time to hatch the high distance eggs. Once you have made space in your egg bag, you will receive new supplies at the next opportunity.
It is important that you secure small 2 km eggs in particular. You can only obtain these by spinning at PokéStops. But be careful, as you can also spin 5 and 10 km eggs. In this case, you should repeat the hatching process for the larger eggs until you are left with only 2 km eggs in your storage.
How to secure the coveted eggs
What’s next for the eggs? Once you have removed all high distance eggs from your box, you must hatch the remaining eggs promptly at the start of the event. It is best to put the 2 km eggs in your incubators the day before the Hoenn Tour, but make sure they don’t hatch too early and suddenly produce a new egg for you.
On event day, these should be hatched relatively quickly and can then be replaced by the coveted event eggs. Diavalo88 also recommends this on reddit: “You need a stock of 2 km eggs for the Hoenn Tour in 2 weeks, so you can hatch them quickly and hunt the regionals in 10 km eggs. You have about 2 weeks to remove your 5/7/10 km eggs.”
Are there ways to avoid getting new eggs? Yes, if you want to be safe that you do not receive new eggs after hatching the high eggs, you can alternatively refrain from spinning PokéStops and opening gifts for a few days.
The reddit user TheReformedBadger also intends to do this, as he reveals in the comments (via reddit.com): “Or you do what I do and just stop spinning for a while.” However, this will restrict you in the game, so you should consider it carefully beforehand.
How do you get 10 km eggs? Just like the 2 and 5 km eggs, you can also secure 10 km eggs at PokéStops and gyms. Just spin the photo disc. Which egg you get remains random. But do not open gifts if you currently have a free egg slot and are hoping for regionals, as these will give you 7 km eggs.
Will there be egg bonuses for the event? Whether there will also be a special egg bonus during the event, where the hatching distance is reduced, or whether discounted incubators will be available in the in-game shop is currently unfortunately still unknown.
However, those who cannot hatch all eggs that day need not worry about missing out on regional Pokémon. Once you have secured the eggs in your storage, they can also be hatched later at any time and will then contain the respective contents of the event. The only thing that matters is that you received the eggs during the Hoenn Tour.
How do you like the contents of the event eggs? Are you actively hatching your stock now to secure the regional Pokémon for yourself? Or are you more interested in other monsters? Feel free to let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments.
Besides the Hoenn Tour, there is still much more to expect in Pokémon GO in the coming weeks. We show you all events in February and which ones are worth it.
