In Valheim the map is created randomly and procedurally based on a “seed”. This determines what your world will look like. MeinMMO has compiled the best seeds for various purposes and presents them to you sorted here.
What is a seed? The map of Valheim is not fixed, but is recreated when creating a world. A seed is used for this. It is, so to speak, the genetic code that determines how the map will ultimately look.
A seed is a key that specifies which biomes appear where, which land masses are connected, where oceans and islands are located. It also determines where you can find which resources, enemies, and bosses.
What do certain seeds bring me? With a certain seed, you can create a new world that has specific requirements. For example, you can visit maps where you find iron or bronze right from the start.
As your character remains, you can “jump” to these worlds, grab what you need, and then switch back to your main world. This can be particularly helpful when the seed of “your” world is not optimal.
How do I use a seed? To use a seed, you need to create a new world. During creation, you will be asked for the name and the seed. Enter any name and the seed of the world you want to visit.
If you want to view a map after starting, you can do this via admin commands:
- open the console with F5
- enter “imacheater” and confirm with Enter to activate the commands
- enter “exploremap” to uncover the entire map

What do I find here? The seeds allow you to start in a vast grassland that offers little danger all around. You have plenty of space to build your structures and get inspired by the impressive constructions from the community.
In the seed wVJCZahxX8, you will also find a large lake and plenty of wild boars that you can tame and breed. If you want to fulfill your dream of a large farm by the water, this is the place to be.
Best seeds for copper, tin, and bronze

What do I find here? You start in a small grassland on a huge island where multiple dark forests can be found. In dark forests, you will find core wood as well as copper and tin, which you need to produce bronze.
In addition, there are several swamps on the starting island and on some nearby islands. In our guide, you can find out how to obtain a pickaxe to mine ores.
Best seeds for swamps and iron

What do I find here? In these maps, either many swamps are found around the spawn, or, as in the first case, a large swamp with an enormous number of deposits. Just a small piece east of the start, you will find a swamp with ten crypts and numerous iron deposits.
To open the crypts, you need the swamp key from the second boss. Obtain this before heading to the mentioned seeds, or you will waste time farming the resources.
To find iron deposits, you have to dig randomly with the pickaxe – or you can use the divining rod. You can get it from the swamp boss bone mass, and it shows you where you can find treasures and metal veins in the ground.

What do I find here? Right near the spawn and on the same island, you will find one or more large mountain biomes with these seeds. In the mountains, you will find silver and obsidian, which you need after iron to craft the next better weapons and armor.
Additionally, you will find wolf pelts and fangs as well as dragon eggs that you need to summon the boss Moder.

What do I find here? This seed is the same one we also listed as a beginner and building seed. We have it listed a second time to emphasize that you find many wild boars here. If you need meat and leather scraps quickly, you should visit this map.
Best seeds for all bosses

What do I find here? Even if the first of the seeds sounds like a joke, the reddit user Previlein found a world here that offers everything:
- four bosses are on the starting island
- the last boss Yagluth is two islands away
- all biomes are in close proximity
- only the trader is missing

What do I find here? These seeds also sound more like a joke but work well. In both, you will find the trader Haldor a little southeast of the spawn, just a few minutes away on foot.

Create and test your own seeds with the world generator
Meanwhile, the player wd40bomber7 has developed a tool that allows you to create your own seeds and test them before playing (via reddit). With the “world seed generator”, you can generate various seeds and see where you can find important things. Here’s how it works:
- visit the website valheim-map.world
- enter a seed that you want to test
- choose whether you want to create the map quickly or with high quality and how precise the representation should be
- for a quick overview, use “Map Quality: Fast”
- check the boxes for the objects you want to see, such as bosses, the trader, or dungeons, and explore the world
