Escape from Tarkov fulfilled its players’ great wish with the latest update and brought a change that they had been waiting for.
What change is it? In Escape from Tarkov (EFT), there was once again a wipe on December 27, 2023, which regularly resets the progress of all players. In addition, the wipe came with an update that brought new content and some changes to the game.
Among these changes was a revision of the recoil in Escape from Tarkov. The recoil of the individual weapons had long been a thorn in the side of shooter fans. They are now even happier that the developer Battlestate Games finally made a change.
What does the recoil change bring? On the official website of Escape from Tarkov, Battlestate Games published the patch notes for update 0.14.0.0. There, the changes to the recoil are also listed (via escapefromtarkov.com).
In the patch notes, it states:
- “The recoil mechanics have been improved to make it more realistic and enjoyable for the players. Special attention has been paid to enhancing the feeling of shooting in semi-automatic and burst fire mode.”
- “The new recoil mechanics now include a variety of flexible settings that allow for balance adjustments based on analytical data and player feedback.”
- “All parameters of weapon recoil have been rebalanced.”

What do players say about the changes? The players of Escape from Tarkov love the change of recoil as many were dissatisfied with the old system. Several players also write that they are returning to EFT after a long break.

In general, it can be concluded that the changes are very well received by many EFT players. However, while the extraction shooter Escape from Tarkov celebrated an important victory with the new recoil and fulfilled a wish for its players, EFT: Arena continues to struggle with issues.
