What is Neverwinter? In the MMORPG Neverwinter, you protect the city of “Neverwinter” from numerous threats. Based on the pen & paper role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, you create a hero, explore a large world, complete many quests, and descend into dark dungeons with friends.
- Focus on quests and story
- You can engage in PvP in special areas
- Group content is central, but much can also be done alone
- Hero development follows D&D traditions
- The setting captures the Dungeons & Dragons atmosphere well
- Classic, western fantasy
- While there is no open world, there are many large zones
How does Neverwinter play on console? Even though Neverwinter was not developed with controller support, Cryptic Studios managed to make the MMORPG controllable with this method. This is due to the active, action-packed combats and the few skills you can use per fight. The combat system is intuitive and fights proceed quickly.
The performance is very good on PS4 and Xbox One, and even the graphics barely show a difference from the PC version. The versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S run even smoother and offer faster loading times.
Who is Neverwinter suitable for? Primarily targeting D&D fans and anyone who enjoys completing many quests in MMORPGs and experiencing an exciting story. Neverwinter feels at times as if you are enjoying a “pen & paper” game with friends.
What has happened in the game recently? After the Infernal Descent addon, which tells the prehistory to Baldur’s Gate 3, the story in the Nine Hells concluded with the adventure module Avernus. Neverwinter receives new content regularly.
