What are the battles like? The “World vs. World” system is the heart of the mass battles in Guild Wars 2. Here, three worlds (servers) engage in a massive, open war against each other. The fights take place on special, huge maps where hundreds of players simultaneously fight for castles, towers, and camps.
- Fortresses and sieges: Large guilds organize attacks on enemy fortresses, using siege weapons like catapults, arrow carts, and golems. It becomes particularly exciting when several large player groups clash in enormous battles.
- Open field battles: In addition to the sieges, large battles regularly occur in open terrain. The massive player groups, often referred to as “zergs,” rely on strategic maneuvers, AoE abilities, and coordinated attacks to overwhelm the enemy. Commanders lead their armies across the map, and skilled maneuvers can decide a battle within seconds.
