Even before the Ancients entered the Old World with their ships, it was inhabited by dragons. How long they had existed at that time is not precisely known. Most of them look like what one would imagine a classic dragon: large and powerful reptiles with wings.

These mighty creatures fought a bitter war against the dragon ogres, who had turned to the destructive powers of Chaos. They possess a human upper body and the scaly lower body of a dragon.
When the Ancients arrived, many of the dragons fled from the invaders into the depths of the seas or into caves. Others, however, remained on the surface. Some races of the Old World use dragons as mounts – especially the elves.
