Rank 4: The Ancients
The Ancients are the actual creators of the Old World. According to legends of the elves, they arrived from beyond the stars in silver ships. When that exactly was is unknown. But since they are the creators of the Slann, they must be correspondingly older.
They shaped the continents, seas, and mountains of the known world, and also created many of the races that inhabit it today – including elves, dwarfs, and the Saurus, the warrior caste of the lizardmen.
By around -5600 IC, the Ancients disappeared. However, the lizardmen still worship them as their gods today and try to implement their “Great Plan.” This is the original vision of the Ancients for how the world should look. Anyone not part of this plan – such as Chaos or the Undead – is ruthlessly fought by the lizardmen.
At the arrival of the Ancients, the world was already populated by ancient beings. Whether these are older in a cosmic sense or were just present earlier is hard to say. Therefore, we take the presence in the Old World as our benchmark. The Ancients only make it to rank 4 of the oldest beings.
