Was ist das für ein Spiel? Final Fantasy XIV is an MMORPG from Japan, which is immediately apparent in its staging and strong focus on story. In recent years, the game has become one of the most popular MMORPGs ever, mainly due to regular updates and good content.
FFXIV offers:

How well does Final Fantasy XIV play on console? Final Fantasy XIV is now available not only for PlayStation but also for Xbox, offering cross-play with PC. Accordingly, both versions are at exactly the same level. An Xbox version is in the works and is expected to be released, but no date has been set yet.
In terms of performance, the MMORPG performs well on console, although you should expect longer loading times than on PC, at least on PS4. The controls also work smoothly and are very intuitive, although it is a little complicated to hit a specific target in a larger crowd.
What has been happening recently? In July 2024, the new Dawntrail expansion was released. It introduced two new full classes and one limited class. Dawntrail also kicked off a completely new story that takes you to the exotic continent of Tural.
Since then, several major content updates have been released, continuing the main scenario and expanding the endgame with new content and challenges. Most recently, Patch 7.4 went live, which MeinMMO editor Alex was particularly excited about due to its new raid.

Who might be interested in FFXIV? Final Fantasy XIV is aimed at fans of JRPGs as well as fans of classic tab-targeting MMORPGs. The game offers a wealth of story content, dungeons, and raids. These in particular must be completed in groups and can be tricky. Incidentally, the Square MMORPG is even set to be released on Nintendo Switch 2 soon.
