What kind of game is this? With ESO, you get an online role-playing game set in the world of the popular Elder Scrolls series from Bethesda. Unlike games like Oblivion, Morrowind, or Skyrim, here you can explore almost the entire world, not just one region of the continent Tamriel. This includes regions like the Khajiit homeland Elsweyr, which have not been presented in such detail in any previous game in the series.
ESO offers a new “chapter” and additional updates every year. New content and a completely new region are released every quarter. As a Buy-2-Play game, you only need to purchase ESO once and can then play it permanently without any additional costs. Additional content costs extra or can be used with a subscription for as long as the subscription is active.
ESO is primarily a PvE game where you battle monsters in the game world. PvP fans can engage in special battlefields or even fight in the open PvP area around the Imperial City in Cyrodiil and even temporarily crown themselves Emperor.
What are the highlights? ESO offers numerous features that players appreciate. These include:

Since ESO has been running for over 7 years, the amount of content has become enormous, and anyone starting now will certainly have months of gameplay ahead of them to see and experience everything.
Additionally, ESO is full of loving details and lore elements that will immediately thrill any fan of Skyrim and the like. Because ESO takes place many hundreds of years before the other Elder Scrolls games, the developers can both introduce new things and foreshadow familiar situations. All quests are fully voiced and create a particularly immersive atmosphere.
As the level of the monsters always adapts to your level and since there are now NPC companions in the game, you can play large parts of the game alone. This makes ESO ideal for solo players who prefer to explore the world without a group in MMORPGs.
What are the drawbacks? Of course, not everything is great in ESO. Since the game’s launch, performance issues have plagued the MMORPG. Additionally, the game is not free of bugs, with some being so humorous that players celebrate them.
Another criticism is the prices in the shop, which many players consider too expensive. However, there is now the option to at least unlock loot box contents through grinding.
Why is it particularly good for beginners? ESO is indeed a complex game, but you quickly catch on to how it works. This is partly due to the lovingly designed tutorials, which are now finally uniformly shaped and introduce players perfectly to the game.
