Destiny 2

What is it about? Destiny 2 is a multiplayer shooter with MMO and RPG elements from the creators of Halo, Bungie. The setting is a mix of fantasy and science fiction. The story is a continuation of its predecessor. You are a Guardian, which means you have cosmic abilities, sort of like space magic, and you must protect the last city on Earth.
In this process, you will fight against nasty aliens throughout the solar system, defeat gods, time-traveling robots, and try to drive out the Darkness itself. You will rely on a wide arsenal of guns and armor, which will give you the necessary firepower in addition to your light abilities and recently also from the dark side.
Since its release, Destiny 2 has been continually expanded. In 2018, the Forsaken expansion was released with the Dreaming City. In 2019, Shadowkeep sent you to the Moon. Then came the Beyond Light expansion in late 2020, taking you to the icy moon of Europa. However, this also meant that old content was removed.
The story is continuously told in seasons, currently, the 13th season is running, where you fight against the ugliest princess in the universe. Additionally, you can also unleash your abilities in combat against other Guardians. Developer Bungie has outlined its plans until 2022. There is always something to do.
Co-op in Destiny 2
How multiplayer works: Destiny 2 offers many different activities. From a story campaign to PvP, everything is included. Additionally, there are challenging raids.
PvE activities can be completed in a group for almost all. This includes story missions, strikes, quests, dungeons, and adventures that can be approached in threes. Raids can be played with up to six players. Some of the content also offers an automatic matchmaking feature.
In PvP, there are modes where you can play 3vs3, 4vs4, or 6vs6. Additionally, Gambit is a PvEvP mode where two teams of 4 Guardians must fight against each other and aliens simultaneously.
Open World in Destiny 2
How is the game world structured? Similar to Borderlands 3, there is no large, cohesive open world. Instead, you traverse large areas on Earth and other planets that differ significantly from one another. There, you experience stories, explore the world, or fight through interesting locations in missions.
You can also meet other random players in patrol areas of individual locations or social spaces – but most activities are instantiated.
For whom is Destiny 2 suitable?
This is the special appeal of the game: In Destiny, you spend most of your time experiencing the story and gathering loot to upgrade and enhance your character classes. There are three different classes that differ greatly in gameplay and also offer subclasses with various specializations.
Weapons can be used by all character classes. Armor, however, is individual for each of the three classes. A major appeal lies in the hunt for new Exotics, which are particularly rare guns or armor pieces that break known game mechanics. In Season 13, there are 171 Exotics to collect.

Newcomers experience a different game than Guardians who have been there from the start. In November 2020, Destiny 2 was completely restructured, and many old contents were moved to the Destiny Content Vault and removed from the game. While some parts of the game disappear for overhauling, highlights from Destiny 1 return polished.
