What kind of game is this? The Day Before is a survival shooter in the style of The Division with top graphics. The two games share a very similar style, and in both games, a catastrophe has thrown the civilization of our world into chaos. However, in The Day Before, a zombie apocalypse broke out, and so the undead roam the abandoned cityscapes.
You shoot them down by using the cover system already known from The Division. The zombies, however, are not bizarre monster mutants, but are said by the developers to be “realistic”.
Your task in this lost world is to search for food, weapons, and resources, and to survive.
What are the special features? The Day Before is expected by many interested players to be “the better The Division”. For while Ubisoft’s game was expected to have more survival mechanics, it is said that The Day Before actually has them.
So you not only have to take down enemies in the game, but also gather food and other resources to survive. You also need to pay attention to the weather, for example, if storms can kill you if you don’t find shelter.
Additionally, The Day Before features open PvP. Every player can be a friend or enemy. You can play together or kill each other and steal your gear.
The setting does not only involve deserted cities full of zombies, but also takes you out into the countryside. There, you can find vehicles that can get stuck in the mud realistically.
Notably, The Day Before has fewer RPG mechanics than The Division. Your loot does not have rarity tiers, and your characters do not level up. So all players are basically equally strong.
Who should play it? As already hinted, The Day Before is aimed at players who expected more from The Division than “just” a cover looter shooter. Instead, the game targets anyone who hopes for more survival elements and less RPG. And those who enjoy hardcore PvP will likely be happy here.
