At first glance, Tamatoa is just a giant crab with a particular fondness for everything shiny. But one should not underestimate him. The monstrous, mythological being dwells in Lalotai, a realm of monsters. He is notorious for his unpredictable and insane nature, which can switch from sarcastically cheeky to murderously threatening in an instant.
He devours anyone who comes too close – whether human, animal, or deity. Even his own grandmother has been consumed. But before that, he enjoys playing with his food, torturing his victims both physically and mentally, and bragging about his treasures.
For battle, he is perfectly equipped. He is huge and possesses immense strength that can easily rival that of a demigod. At the same time, he can also perfectly disguise himself as a lifeless pile of treasure by retreating into his shell filled with gold treasures.
