Place 5: Clone
- Price: 3,000 Gold
- Can be learned by wizards
- Spell level 8
The spell Clone requires not only a diamond worth 1,000 gold but also a piece of flesh of at least 15 cubic centimeters from the person who is to receive a clone. Both components are consumed for the spell. However, the costs do not end there.
The clone also requires a vessel worth at least 2,000 gold, which must be sealable and large enough to accommodate the forming clone, such as a large urn, a coffin, or even a giant jar. The clone will mature and be preserved in there for 120 days but will remain lifeless until it is needed.
If the original being of the clone dies, its soul transfers into the clone, provided it is free and willing. The clone is physically identical to the original and possesses the same personality as well as the same memories and abilities. If desired, the caster could also choose a younger version of themselves when casting the spell. Just a side note. The movie “The Substance” gives a nod.
Place 4: Gate
- Price: 5,000 Gold
- Can be learned by clerics, wizards, and sorcerers
- Spell level 9
The spell Gate is the first level 9 spell on this list and requires a diamond worth at least 5,000 gold for casting. By using it, the spellcaster creates a portal that can be established between two precisely designated locations on different planes.
Much more impressive and useful than mere teleportation is another trick: If, while casting, you speak the name of a creature whose true name you know (no pseudonym, title, or stage name), the other end of the portal appears in immediate proximity to that person or creature.
This individual is then “caught” by the Gate spell and immediately pulled to the spellcaster. Caution: The person may not find this particularly fun and is free to decide whether to leave, help, or simply attack.
