Ettercaps are spider-like creatures known for their cunning and magical abilities. Unlike ordinary giant spiders, they usually walk on two legs. They possess supernatural cunning and act more like hunters and trappers than wild beasts. They lurk in dark forests, ancient ruins, or deep caves, using webs and poisons to overwhelm their prey.
They often hunt in small groups with giant spiders and smaller swarms of spiders. If not kept in check, they will web entire forests and leave cocoons with remnants of their meals.
Ettercaps love to torment fey who are smaller than themselves, like pixies and goblins. If they capture intelligent creatures, they often keep them trapped in their cocoons and torment them for days. If you encounter one, be prepared with fire – as they detest it immensely.
