In Destiny 2 brought the new season some familiar weapons back into the game. Among them is the Vanguard hand cannon “Service Revolver”: one of the best weapons in Destiny 2. What you need to know about the Service Revolver is summarized here for you.
This is the story of the weapon in Destiny 2: The Service Revolver was first introduced in the third season of Destiny 2. That was in May 2018. At that time, the hand cannon could only be obtained with a specific perk combination.
In the current Season of the Drifter 2019, the Vanguard weapon makes a comeback, this time with random perks.
The Service Revolver: What can the weapon do?
This is what makes the weapon special: The Service Revolver is a legendary hand cannon with precision frame. This places it in the same archetype as the infamous Guardian killers Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten.
However, the Service Revolver is located in the kinetic slot compared to its PvP counterparts. This makes it a precision hand cannon from Year 2 that does not occupy the energy weapon slot. A rarity: the only other exception is the exotic hand cannon Service Violation.

These are the stats: The Service Revolver has a rate of fire of 180. It also has high stability and pretty good range. Reload speed and handling are relatively average, but you can change that with the right perks.
That’s why the Service Revolver is one of the best weapons: Thanks to the random rolls, you can even compete against the dominant top weapons in the Crucible. Certain weapon perks like Kill Clip or Snapshot prove particularly effective in keeping the TTK monsters in check.
With Kill Clip, you achieve the same TTK (Time to Kill) as that of Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten.
How to obtain the Vanguard weapon
Those of you who snagged the Service Revolver back in Year 1 can obtain it from Zavala through Engrams. With each rank-up, you have the chance to get the Vanguard weapon again.
If you missed your chance back then, you’ll need to complete 40 Strikes in the Strike playlist first. This will unlock the Triumph “Season 6: Finishes”. This enables you to buy the Service Revolver from Zavala for 100 Glimmer. After purchase, the weapon is included in Zavala’s loot pool.
Note: You do not have to complete the 40 Strikes with one character. The Triumph counts all Strike finishes on your account, so you can split them among your characters.
These weapon perks are suitable for the Service Revolver
The Service Revolver can receive a variety of different perks. Here we give you a few examples of bonuses that would be suitable for this weapon.
Weapon perks for PvE
- Sights – Steady Hand HV, True Sight HV, Hitmark HV
- Magazine – Extended Mag / Ricochet Rounds / Light Mag
- Perk 1 – Outlaw / Quickdraw
- Perk 2 – Rampage / Kill Clip / Triple Tap
- Mods – Rampage Spec / Major Spec
For PvE, the well-known damage perks always prove to be the best choice. Triple Tap can be used in combination with Quickdraw, allowing you to shoot longer before needing to reload.

Weapon perks for PvP
- Sights – Steady Hand HV, Hitmark HV, Sure Shot HV
- Magazine – High-Caliber Rounds / Improved Rounds / Ricochet Rounds
- Perk 1 – Quickdraw / Moving Target / Snapshot
- Perk 2 – Kill Clip / Zen Moment / First Shot
- Mods – Targeting Adjuster / Backup Mag
For the Crucible, you should aim for Kill Clip. This allows the Service Revolver to eliminate enemy Guardians with three precision hits. This puts you on par with the TTK (Time to Kill) of Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten.
To better compete against Not Forgotten, it’s advisable to use Snapshot.
