In Teamfight Tactics (TFT) there are various ways to spend your gold and roll for champions. Slow Roll, Hyper Roll, and Fast 8 are typical methods. We will show you what Slow Roll actually means.
What does rolling bring? In your TFT matches, managing your gold is one of the most important skills. When do you roll for XP, how much gold should you keep at minimum, and what is the goal? Guides often explain which roll strategy you should use for the suggested comp.
In this article, we explain Slow Rolling.
Slow Rolling in TFT Explained
What is Slow Rolling? This means that you save your gold for a longer time in order to possess as much of it as possible in the mid and late game. Essentially, you only roll until you have at least 50 gold remaining.
You need to save for a while first, in order to own the 3-star champions by level 7.
Stage 2: You want to use this phase to save as much gold as possible. But in the meantime, grab some cheap, strong champions to avoid losing too much health.
Stage 3: When you start Slow Rolling depends on the cost of your main carry. If it costs 2 gold, you’ll typically start Slow Rolling at level 6. If the carry costs 3 gold, you usually start at level 7. However, you can’t blindly follow this strategy; you need to pay attention to your health. If you keep losing and are among the last positions, it’s advisable to upgrade your team to 2-star champs in between.
Stage 4: If you have enough health points and a strong comp, you can now start to roll slowly towards level 8. If your health has drastically dropped, now is a good time to invest all your gold to obtain 3-star champions.
Stage 5 and higher: Here you are strongly dependent on how your game has been so far. If you have a solid comp and enough health points, you invest the gold into higher levels and look for champions that enhance your team well. If you currently have low health, roll for your missing champions and try to achieve the best possible ranking.
