Sony’s PlayStation 5 (PS5) has been unboxed by testers. We show you how gamers are talking about the new photos and videos of the console and what topic is particularly of interest.
What is it about? On October 27, an embargo on the unboxing of the PlayStation 5 was lifted. Selected testers had the console at home and were allowed to make videos and pictures of them unboxing the PS5 and how the console looks in real life.
We reported that the first videos of the PS5 unboxing are there and the internet is going crazy.
The PS5 next to the Xbox Series X – Size is the topic
This is the comparison: One of the websites that got to unpack and set up the PS5 is TheVerge.com. They were also chosen to test Microsoft’s new consoles, the Xbox Series X and Series S.
A comparison photo shows the three consoles side by side on a table. Here it becomes clear how tall Sony’s console is compared to the other two when standing upright.
Previously, there were such size comparisons between PS5 and Xbox Series X as well, but they were still digital and without “real” photos.
For those who don’t like the comparison to the Xbox, a video from GameSpot might be more enjoyable. They compared the size of the PS5 with the PS1, PS2, PS3, PS3 Slim, PS4, and PS4 Pro.

How players react to the size
On Twitter, memes are already circulating. This comparison by @DomsPlaying mentions that actually the first Xbox was considered bulky. Now, however, the PlayStation 5 could take that position:

On our site MeinMMO, user EViolet writes:
“[…] Man oh man, the PS5 is HUGE – A real block on the leg. So I won’t buy either one, but if I did, I would choose the Xbox based solely on design. It looks more elegant to me and would fit much better in my living room. But that’s just my opinion.”
Others notice that the box in which the PS5 is packaged is also large. A mailman would probably struggle with large packages when the consoles are shipped.
A large package also reached a YouTuber who received a giant Xbox fridge from Microsoft.
